Greece v England: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Greece have won all four of their Nations League matches, including a dramatic 2-1 victory over England at Wembley, and the Group B2 rivals meet again on Thursday.

Greece v England betting tips and predictions

Greece or draw double chance - 10/11

Greece left it late to seal a 2-1 Nations League win over England at Wembley last month as Benfica striker Vangelis Pavlidis scored the winner in the 94th minute.

Lee Carsley's England looked to have rescued a point despite a disjointed display as Jude Bellingham equalised in the 87th minute but the Greeks deserved their victory and should be confident going into the return fixture.

Greece are top of the Group B2 table having won all four of their matches, and they kept clean sheets in three of those wins, beating Finland 3-0 at home and winning 2-0 home and away against Ireland.

England, who have reached the last two European Championship finals, clearly have the edge in terms of international pedigree but there are enough doubts over the Three Lions to back Greece or draw in the double-chance market.

Interim boss Carsley will take charge of the final two Nations League games before Thomas Tuchel begins work on New Year's Day and England's squad has been severely weakened by withdrawals.

Trent Alexander-Arnold went off injured during Liverpool's Premier League win over Aston Villa last weekend while Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish have also withdrawn from international duty.

Even before their Nations League success, Greece had been tough to beat.

Their only defeats in their last 13 matches were a 1-0 loss to the Netherlands, who scored an injury-time penalty, and a 2-1 reverse against Germany, whose midfielder Pascal Gross struck the decisive blow in the 89th minute.

1-1 correct score - 11/2

Last month's clash at Wembley was seconds away from finishing 1-1 and that correct-score selection is worth a bet at the Olympic Stadium in Athens.

Both teams have dangerous strikers as England's record goalscorer Harry Kane is available while Greece welcome back Panathinaikos frontman Fotis Ioannidis, who scored three goals in two Nations League fixtures in September.

However, the betting suggests a tight game is likely and three of England's seven matches at the Euros ended 1-1.

That correct score could easily have landed in the semi-final and the final too.

Ollie Watkins struck in the 90th minute to give England a 2-1 semi-final win over the Netherlands before the Three Lions conceded in the 86th minute of their 2-1 final defeat to Spain.

Manolis Siopis to be booked - 9/4

With promotion to League A on the line, a hard-fought contest is in prospect and Greece are certainly capable of handling themselves in a physical battle.

They have picked up 12 yellow cards in four Nations League matches and midfielder Dimitrios Kourbelis is suspended after being booked in both of his appearances in the competition.

His absence should open the door for Cardiff's Manolis Siopis to start in the engine room and he looks a good bet to be booked.

Siopis was cautioned in three of his first six starts in the Championship this season, against title favourites Leeds and promotion contenders Sunderland and Middlesbrough, and he was also shown a card in September's away win over Ireland.
