Germany v Netherlands: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Germany's recent performances at major tournaments have been poor, but they can count on home advantage at Euro 2024 and their preparations got off to the perfect start with a 2-0 win over France on Saturday.

That triumph in Lyon certainly raised a few eyebrows as Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz got on the scoresheet for the visitors, who will be hoping to repeat the feat against the Netherlands at Deutsche Bank Park on Tuesday.

The Dutch, however, are also on an excellent run, having scored 12 goals in their last four matches, but the trip to Frankfurt undoubtedly represents a step-up in opposition for Ronald Koeman's men.

Germany to win - 19/20

The Netherlands looked in high spirits on Friday night as they thrashed Scotland 4-0 in their first friendly of the year and that extended their winning run to four matches.

They have scored 12 times and conceded none in that run but the quality of opponents - Greece, Ireland, Gibraltar and the Scots - has to be considered.

And a visit to Frankfurt to face Euro 2024 hosts Germany is certainly daunting.

It is fair to say the home side are still finding their feet under Julian Nagelsmann and they have not had the chance to experiment in competitive qualifiers like other nations.

But the 2-0 win over France was seriously encouraging.

Germany won the shot count 15-11 and the shots on target count 6-2 in that match, with the double midfield pivot of Toni Kroos and Robert Andrich working wonders, allowing the more creative outlets to express themselves.

Havertz may not start this time around but he has emerged as decent option up top, while Jonathan Tah and Antonio Rudiger make for a fierce defensive partnership.

With an energised Frankfurt crowd behind them, Germany are worth backing to win this friendly.

Over 3.5 goals - 6/4

Although their opponents have not been the strongest, Netherlands still deserve credit for how they have performed going forwards recently and they can contribute to a high-scoring match-up with the Germans.

The Dutch have scored 10 goals in their last two games alone against Gibraltar and Scotland and a front three of Xavi Simons, Memphis Depay and Cody Gakpo should cause Germany problems.

Four of the Netherlands' matches since the start of June last year have produced over 3.5 goals and that could be a worthwhile selection when these European juggernauts square up in Frankfurt.

It has also clicked in four of Germany's last seven friendly matches and the goals could flow again.

Niclas Fullkrug to score at anytime - 6/4

There was plenty of fluidity to Germany's attacking play in the 2-0 win over France on Saturday and there are a handful of players who appeal in the goalscorer markets.

Havertz has gone from strength to strength at Arsenal this season and after fine-tuning his finishing, he looks like one decent option up top for Germany at Euro 2024.

But when Nagelsmann wants more physicality from his lone forward, he is likely to go with Niclas Fullkrug, who should get the nod against the Dutch.

Fullkrug has scored in three of Germany's last five matches, netting against USA, Mexico and Turkey, and he has also been going well in the Bundesliga.

In 26 matches for Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund, Fullkrug has netted 11 goals and also laid on eight assists.

His aerial threat and physical presence should cause the Dutch problems and he is a value pick to score at anytime at Deutsche Bank Park.
