Georgia v Greece: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Georgia have made real progress under Willy Sagnol and can make history when they host Greece in the final of Path C of Euros qualifying on Tuesday.

The Crusaders are eying their first major tournament as an independent nation and, after losing in the play-offs for the last European Championships, will hope to use that experience in front of a packed house in Tbilisi.

Georgia were a touch lucky in their semi-final, with Luxembourg's Gerson Rodrigues having an equaliser ruled out for a questionable foul as Sagnol's side ran out 2-0 winners, but they have real momentum and will be boosted by talisman Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's return from suspension.

Greece, Euros winners in 2004, have not qualified for a continental championship since losing to Germany in the quarter-finals in 2012.

The Sky Blues and Whites are mounting an international comeback and beat Kazakhstan 5-0 to continue their push for a place in Germany.

Gus Poyet has won 12 of his 20 fixtures in charge and seems to have released the handbrake.

The Uruguayan's contract expires after this game, but his team have scored in five of their last six games, including a 2-2 home draw against France, and his FA may be well served to keep him on.

The winner will take up the final place in Group F alongside Turkey, Portugal and Czech Republic and the confidence these teams are displaying suggests that it could be an exciting fixture at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

Georgia v Greece betting tips and predictions

Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/4

Georgia's win over Luxembourg was a rare low-scoring affair for the Crusaders, with their previous six games featuring over 2.5 goals.

Greece have also been entertaining, their 2-2 draw against France preceding their storming 5-0 victory over the Kazakhs.

Typically known as a nation with tactical discipline and little flair, the current Hellenic crop have found some panache under Poyet, who has always been happy to let his players go out and attack.

Olympiacos' Giorgos Masouras has netted five times in qualifying, one more than 'Kvaradona', Kvaratskhelia, showing that there are scorers on both sides and the potential for goals.

There are bound to be nerves - there's too much at stake for there not to be - but the vibrant atmosphere at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena should inspire the players and goals could be a feature.

Budu Zivzivadze anytime scorer @ 15/4

The focus will be on Kvaratskhelia, but Budu Zivzivadze's skill set and form mean he could be the Georgia forward to follow.

At 30, the Karlsruhe man's nomadic career path means he falls into the journeyman category, but he comes into this fixture in good form.

He is familiar with Tuesday's venue, having once scored 22 goals in 35 appearances for Dinamo Tbilisi and has netted 13 times for club and country in 2023/24.

That run includes a brace in Karlsruhe's 7-0 win over Magdeburg ahead of the international break, before scoring both goals against Luxembourg.

Both his strikes were about nous and that knack for popping up at the right time could be decisive.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Player to be Booked @ 13/8

Back in the side and desperate to lead his country to their first major tournament, Kvaratshkelia will surely be in the thick of the action and may feel he owes his team after missing out against Luxembourg due to picking up three yellow cards in the group stages.

Kvaratskhelia has often pulled his team through, netting four times in their final three Group A matches, but can be a bit fiery and averages 1.5 fouls a game.

The 23-year-old has also received six Serie A cautions this season and after receiving yellow cards in his last two international matches, might find his way into referee Szymon Marciniak's notebook.
