Fulham v Manchester United: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Fulham will go off as favourites against Manchester United for possibly the first time in history on Sunday when Ruben Amorim’s side make the trip to Craven Cottage for an evening kick-off in the Premier League.

The odds reflect the fortunes of the two teams this season, with Fulham coming into the clash in good form, sitting 10th in the table after a solid 2-0 victory over Leicester City last weekend.

The Cottagers have been particularly strong at home this season, losing just twice in 11 league matches.

In contrast, the Red Devils arrive in London under immense pressure, having suffered a demoralising 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton last Sunday, prompting head coach Ruben Amorim to label his team as "maybe the worst" in the club's history.

While they managed a narrow 2-1 win over Rangers in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, doubts persist about their consistency and tactical cohesion.

Fulham to win - 23/20

Fulham’s best home performances this season came in the wins over Newcastle United and Brighton, two teams who United have lost at home to recently.

Marco Silva’s men also dug in for a draw against Arsenal, fought out a four-goal thriller at Anfield, had the better of a 3-2 away defeat to Manchester City and beat Chelsea on Boxing Day.

The Cottagers have eight more points than they did at the same stage last season, but their manager thinks his side should have more because of their dominant displays.

His pride and confidence in his team contrasts sharply with his compatriot at Old Trafford, who has warned United fans of more suffering to come on more than one occasion.

Some of that suffering could be coming their way on Sunday when a Red Devils team drained from snatching a late victory against Rangers travel south.

United are several key pieces away from being a fully functional side with the lack of a reliable goalscorer, left-sided wing-back and central defenders with pace among the most pressing issues to address.

They have lost six of their last nine Premier League games and remain on course to tally more defeats than the 14 they did last season.

This is a great opportunity for the hosts to wipe away some of the unhappy memories of recent clashes against the Red Devils and keep the points in the capital.

Over 1.5 Fulham goals - 1/1

Fulham have found a goalscoring groove since they were last shut out by anyone - Southampton just before Christmas.

The Whites have scored multiple goals in their last six games in all competitions and have a pretty good chance of extending that sequence this weekend.

United’s dilapidated defence has been breached two or more times in six of their last nine games.

Amorim’s personnel seem ill-suited to his 3-4-2-1 system and the coach has said he will not be changing it to accommodate them.

A clever tactician like Silva will already have worked out how his team are going to exploit their weaknesses.

That might involve Adama Traore, who has terrified United’s sluggish centre-backs before, coming back into the line-up, or it may come down to Antonee Robinson bombarding them with crosses from the left flank.

Raul Jimenez to score Fulham’s first goal - 11/4

The Cottagers have spread the goals around this season with Raul Jimenez on eight, Alex Iwobi hitting seven, Harry Wilson scoring five and Emile Smith Rowe bagging four.

Jimenez has recently been Fulham’s dangerman at home, bagging four goals in the club’s last four games at Craven Cottage.

The Mexican marksman has looked very sharp inside the box and often grabs his team’s first goal.

Of his eight Premier League strikes, six have been the opener and seven have been Fulham’s first of the game.
