Fulham v Aston Villa: Tips, Predictions and Odds

Aston Villa's attempts to qualify for next season's Champions League have faltered over recent weeks but they will hope to get back on track when they visit mid-table Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.

Unai Emery's side have only won two of their last seven top-flight games, but they remain in a strong position in the standings, sitting fifth, just a point behind fourth-placed Tottenham and five clear of Manchester United in sixth.

Last weekend's home defeat to United would have been a bitter pill to swallow for Villa and their supporters, but they will hope for an immediate response when they head to Craven Cottage to take on a Fulham side that have proven hard to predict this season.

The Cottagers have only won two of their last eight in the league, but that run was preceded by back-to-back 5-0 successes over Nottingham Forest and West Ham, while their victories during that sequence have been against title-chasing Arsenal and last weekend when they beat Bournemouth 3-1.

This could prove an entertaining clash in west London where predicting goals seems a more obvious play then siding with either team to pick up the points.

Fulham v Aston Villa betting tips and predictions

Over 3.5 goals - 13/8

Fulham have scored 33 times in the Premier League this season and the majority of those strikes, 22, have come in home matches.

At Craven Cottage Marco Silva's side have put five past both Forest and West Ham and three on Sheffield United, Wolves and most recently Bournemouth.

That 3-1 win over the Cherries was the second Fulham match in a row to feature over 3.5 goals, as the previous week they threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Burnley.

Three of Villa's last four matches have also yielded four or more goals, including their most recent away fixture where they routed Sheffield United 5-0.

Villa have five members of their squad that have scored at least six goals across all competitions and their fire-power cannot be called into question, although they have only recorded two clean-sheets across their last eight league fixtures, which may suggest they are vulnerabilities at the back.

Those defensive concerns will not be helped by having injury problems to contend with, as centre-backs Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Diego Carlos are all on the treatment table, as is defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

Emery could, therefore, be forced to field a makeshift defensive setup against Fulham, increasing the likelihood of goals.

Over 3.5 goals came in when these two sides met earlier in the season at Villa Park - the hosts prevailing 3-1 - and it is 13/8 that four or more goals are scored on Saturday as well.

Leon Bailey to score anytime - 3/1

Jamaica international Leon Bailey signed a new contract with Villa earlier this week and he can celebrate by finding the back of the net against Fulham.

Bailey's Villa career has taken off this season as he has established himself as a key figure under Emery, scoring 10 goals across all competitions and providing a further nine assists.

Of those 10 strikes, seven have been scored in the Premier League from just 11 starts and Bailey's most recent goal came in Villa's last away fixture at Sheffield United.

The 26-year-old provided an assist in Villa's 3-1 victory over Fulham in this season's reverse fixture, but he is 3/1 to go one better by finding the back of the net himself at Craven Cottage.

Over 4.5 cards - 4/5

Villa have earned a lot of plaudits this season for being easy on the eye and playing attack-minded football, but the stats also suggest they are not afraid to get stuck in.

Only two teams, Chelsea and Sheffield United, have picked up more yellow cards in the Premier League this season than Villa's total of 66.

Fulham have not quite received so many cautions collectively - they have 50 in total - but nine of those do belong to combative midfielder Joao Palhinha, who is just one yellow card away from picking up a two-game ban.

There were seven yellow cards issued when these two sides met at Villa Park in November - five of which came for Fulham players - and there is value to be had in backing over 4.5 cards in Saturday's match, which is available at 4/5.
