A crunch 2024/25 UEFA Nations League clash takes place at Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Monday evening, with France looking to bounce back from defeat to Italy against a Belgium side brimming with confidence after victory over Israel.
Belgium double chance - 1/1
Since winning the second edition of the Nations League in 2021, France have struggled in this competition and they tasted success just once from six matches in the 2022/23 campaign.
Having survived relegation to League B by just one point, Les Bleus would have been hoping for a positive start to the 2024/25 event, but they began with a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Italy at the Parc des Princes.
Didier Deschamps' side are on a two-game losing run and they haven't won in normal time in their last three fixtures, having required penalties to edge past Portugal in the European Championship quarter-finals.
There isn't a great balance to this France squad and they could be punished by a Belgium side that defeated Israel 3-1 last time out, with Manchester City maestro Kevin De Bruyne grabbing a brace.
Domenico Tedesco's troops will be eager for revenge, having lost 1-0 to France in the last-16 stage of the Euros, and their away form makes for good reading, with the Red Devils unbeaten in seven road assignments outside of major tournaments.
Avoiding defeat in Lyon would leave Belgium in a strong position after the first two Nations League fixtures, therefore the double chance looks like a strong play here.
Youri Tielemans to have over 0.5 shots on target - 2/1
While De Bruyne took the plaudits for his two-goal showing against Israel, Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans also found the back of the net and he will be eager to keep that momentum going.
The 27-year-old had four attempts in total, two of those ending up on target, and he made the most of being given the freedom to push forward with Amadou Onana sitting deep.
There looks to be every chance Tielemans can get into some good shooting positions again and the 2/1 available on him to have over 0.5 shots on target is hard to ignore.
Jules Kounde to be booked - 9/1
France boss Deschamps could tweak his starting XI for this clash and one player that may come into the side is defender Jules Kounde, who replaced right-back Jonathan Clauss during the second half against Italy and may get the nod here.
It may not be the easiest evening for the 25-year-old, though, as he will be coming up against Manchester City speedster Jeremy Doku and the Frenchman may end up in the book.
Belgium sensation Doku's dribbling and pace make him a real handful and he was fouled three times against Israel, the most of any player on the pitch.
France can be guilty of leaving their defence exposed and should Doku get the opportunity to run at Kounde, then the chance of the latter picking up a caution will increase.
