A UEFA Europa League trip to Porto comes at a crucial time for Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag, who presided over a dismal 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham on Sunday.
Calls for a change in the dugout have grown louder and Ten Hag has two more opportunities - away to Porto and away to Aston Villa - to shift opinions before the October international break.
United began their UEFA Europa League challenge with a 1-1 draw at home to FC Twente, but they have one point more than Porto, who were beaten 3-2 at Bodo-Glimt.
Porto remained second in the Portuguese top-flight after Sunday’s 4-0 home victory over Arouca.
Manchester United to win - 8/5
United are in need of a lift after their 3-0 loss to Tottenham and they can take a step on the road to recovery by defeating Porto in Portugal.
There were very few positives for United to take away from their weekend defeat which could easily have been by a wider margin.
But they played with spirit in the second half despite being down to 10 men and there were more minutes for striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is edging closer to full fitness.
Hojlund should get further exposure against Porto and his pace and movement could be key to deciding a game of fine margins.
United drew 1-1 at home to FC Twente on UEFA Europa League matchday one, although they largely bossed the game and won the shot count 19 to seven.
Porto warmed up for United with a 4-0 league victory at home to Arouca, but they have had a poor recent record in the UEFA Europa League, winning only one of their last seven matches and are under early pressure after a 3-2 loss away to Bodo-Glimt.
The Dragons travelled to Norway with plenty of expectation, but never looked comfortable and were beaten despite their opponents being reduced to ten men by a 51st minute red card for defender Isak Maata.
A positive reaction will be expected at Estadio do Dragao, where Porto have lost just one of their last 22 home matches.
However, they will be up against a United team determined to react after their woeful weekend and they may slide to their second loss of the competition.
Bruno Fernandes to score or assist - 13/10
United’s struggles have been influenced by a lack of consistency from some of their key players, including Bruno Fernandes, who has delivered one assist and no goals in six Premier League games.
Fernandes’ season plunged to a new low at the weekend when he was harshly red-carded in the 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham, but the player won his subsequent appeal and has been cleared to face Aston Villa next weekend.
The 30-year-old has been one of United’s top performers over his four-and-a-half years at the club and had a productive campaign last term, contributing 10 Premier League goals and eight assists.
He may feel he has an extra point to prove on returning to his native Portugal and looks overpriced to either score or assist.
Noussair Mazraoui to commit over 1.5 fouls - 6/4
Moroccan right back Noussair Mazraoui was one of five United players to be yellow-carded against Tottenham and his appetite for a tackle could be seen against Porto.
Mazraoui has committed 10 Premier League fouls this season, more than any United player.
The 26-year-old is ultra-competitive and looks a worthwhile wager to commit another two or more fouls.
