Everton Women currently sit bottom of the WSL and things may get worse before they get better for the Toffees when they take on their rivals Liverpool.
Liverpool Women to win and both teams to score - 13/5
Everton Women are one of just two teams in the WSL who are yet to win a game this season and their wait for a first victory could be set to continue as they host local rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park.
The Toffees picked up an impressive draw with Arsenal at the start of October, but barring that it is hard to take many positives from their campaign.
They have fallen to a 5-0 defeat to Chelsea, a 4-0 loss against Brighton and were also beaten by a Leicester side who finished five points behind the Blues last season.
Brian Sorenson’s side drew 1-1 with newly-promoted Crystal Palace last time out and look like they are in a real relegation dogfight after staying up comfortably last term.
Their rivals Liverpool have had a solid if unspectacular start to the new campaign, with three draws, a pair of wins and two defeats meaning that they came into the weekend sixth in the table.
Their two losses have come against Chelsea and Manchester City, the top two teams in the division in the early part of the season, so there is no need for alarm bells to be ringing for the team that finished fourth last term.
Turning a couple of their three 1-1 draws into wins would have put a better spin on things for the Reds and their defence has been an issue as both teams have scored in all but one of their seven league games.
Everton also have a solid goalscoring record in this derby, having netted in nine of the last ten head-to-heads, with the only exception being the pair’s goalless draw last season.
Despite Everton being low on confidence after a poor start to the season, they should have no problems motivating themselves for this local derby and may come out firing on all cylinders, particularly given Liverpool’s defensive issues.
Expect a lively derby clash, but one that Liverpool may ultimately come out on top in to further dampen the spirits of their city rivals, who look like they are facing a long season ahead.
Olivia Smith to score at anytime - 2/1
Youngster Olivia Smith had an impressive year in Portuguese football last season, winning the title for the league’s best player as she netted 13 times in 18 league games in her single season at Sporting.
Those performances were enough to get her a big move to Liverpool and she has hit the ground running at the Reds, already finding the net twice for her new team.
The 20-year-old has also scored her first two goals for her national team Canada this season, so is clearly in a rich vein of goalscoring form and could be the difference maker in this clash.
Take Smith to get on the scoresheet.
Sara Holmgaard to be shown a card - 5/1
Life as an Everton defender this season has not been easy and so it has proven for Sara Holmgaard, who has been booked three times in just six games for the Toffees.
Only two players in the whole WSL have committed more fouls than the Danish 25-year-old’s tally of 15 and in this derby she could be caught out once more.
Side with Holmgaard - watch your bets as she plays alongside her twin sister Karen - to be shown another card in this game.
