It’s been a trickier start for Everton, who are without a win and are second from bottom in the Women’s Super League. Goals have been hard to come by this season and their record against the Blues suggests things are unlikely to improve this weekend.

Chelsea women to win to nil - 4/6

Not only have Everton failed to secure their first win of the season, they’ve managed only one goal across their first four WSL matches.

Finishing chances has proven to be a real problem for Brian Sorensen’s team and they have lost to nil against Leicester and Manchester United.

The hosts will be hopeful of getting back into scoring form on Sunday given that Chelsea have conceded in each of their last four games. However, those matches have included two Champions League encounters and WSL meetings with Arsenal and Tottenham.

Chelsea won 5-2 against Spurs last time out, but they conceded just 0.4 Expected Goals in that loss. Against a significantly weaker side, the Blues should be confident of a strong defensive showing. After all, the Toffees have scored just once in their last 10 meetings with Chelsea.

The Blues have won to nil in three of their last four visits to Everton, so back them to win and shut out their opponents this weekend. 

Chelsea women to win 3-0 - 11/2

Everton’s matches this season haven’t been particularly high-scoring at either end, with just four goals scored in total across their last four league games. The Toffees have shipped only 5.7 Expected Goals across their five WSL matches this season.

However, the visitors are looking impressive going forward and are the highest-scoring side in the WSL. They have scored 15 times across four matches along with hitting three strikes in each of their Champions League victories. 

The recent record between the sides have seen plenty of comprehensive wins for Chelsea, scoring at least three times across nine of the last 10 encounters. Of those, they have scored exactly three goals on six occasions. 

The Blues have won 3-0 in five of the last nine meetings between these two sides and given the gulf between them in the early table, this should be another routine win for the Blues. Another 3-0 win for Chelsea is my correct score prediction at 11/2.

Guro Reiten to score and Karen Holmgaard to be carded - 11/1

Guro Reiten has scored twice in four matches this season and she leads the way in terms of Expected Goals for the Blues. The Norwegian has an xG tally of 1.5, while she’s taken the joint-most shots of any Chelsea player this season. 

Reiten struck twice when these two sides met in the WSL in February and she can get on the scoresheet against Everton once again.

Pair Reiten to score along with a booking for full-back Karen Holmgaard, who has received three yellow cards so far this season. The defender leads the way in terms of fouls for the Toffees this season, having made just shy of three per game. 

Holmgaard has been booked in each of her last two appearances, after making three fouls against West Ham and Leicester. With Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Lucy Bronze to deal with down that flank the defender is good value for another card.
