Everton v Sheffield United: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Everton’s Goodison Park resurgence has enabled Sean Dyche’s men to power clear of relegation danger and they would hope to be able to maintain their home supremacy when rock-bottom Sheffield United pay them a visit on Saturday.

The Toffees have won four in a row in front of their own fans and that could spell trouble for the Blades, who are enduring a record-breaking fall from grace.

Everton v Sheffield United betting tips and predictions

Everton/Both Teams to Score - No - 13/8

Not so long ago Everton were consumed with the dread of possible relegation - now they are finishing the season with a swagger and can pile more misery on Sheffield United.

The Toffees have saved their skins with a sparkling burst, built around electric form at Goodison Park, and there is no reason to think Dyche and his troops are going to take their foot off the gas at this late stage.

This is Everton’s final home game of the season and Dyche will want to reward supporters with a decent summer send-off.

And United, just the second side in Premier League history to have shipped 100 goals, should be the ideal opponent.

Chris Wilder’s team cannot keep a clean sheet for love nor money, are short of players through injury and suspension and are going to finish bottom.

And Everton are on a winning streak that they won’t want to end. The Merseysiders have lost just one of their last seven and have won each of their last four at home, all without conceding a goal.

Indeed, each of their seven home wins this term have been with a clean sheet as part of the deal and against that background it’s worth backing Everton and Both Teams Not To Score at 13/8.

Everton kicked off their home winning streak with a 1-0 win over Burnley, followed that with 2-0 successes over Nottingham Forest and then Liverpool before pipping Brentford 1-0.

A defence that couldn’t be trusted earlier in the season has been reshaped and now looks solid, while at the other end Dominic Calvert-Lewin has emerged from a virtual season-long hibernation with four goals in five matches and is looking a major threat once more.

Everton may not boast the division’s most potent attack, but everything points to them out-scoring United, who haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 20 league matches and have conceded at least two goals in each of their last 10.

Jarrad Branthwaite Over 0.5 Shots on Target - 11/4

Everton’s top-flight survival has not always been pretty to witness, with a significant emphasis of their attacking play being based around set plays.

Almost 50 per cent of their goals scored have come from corners and free-kicks thanks to well-drilled delivery and a phalanx of huge targets in the box.

One of those is 6ft 5in Jarrad Branthwaite, scorer of three goals and a major threat at set-plays.

Branthwaite is on the verge of a place at the European Championship this summer with England and a big finish won’t harm his cause.

He is 11/4 to get a shot on target when fellow centre-back, one-goal James Tarkowski, is 11/10, so the value appears to be with the 21-year-old.

Over 3.5 Sheffield United Corners - 8/11

Since a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in early April, the Blades have played five matches and lost the lot, conceding 18 goals in the process.

They are going down on the back end of some serious hidings - yet they are still trying to stay positive, as illustrated by their corner counts.

In those five games, their corner count reads 6-11-4-5-5. Wilder will make changes at Goodison Park to offer one or two youngsters an outing and they will all want to impress.

Since Everton concede 5.7 corners per home game, take the visitors to get over 3.5 at 8/11.
