Euros players to watch: Including Mainoo, Zaire-Emery & Yamal

With Euro 2024 fast approaching, our attention now turns to 10 players that could make telling contributions in Germany this summer.

Euro 2024

England - Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United)

Manchester United look to have unearthed a real talent in midfielder Kobbie Mainoo whose breakout season at Old Trafford has seen him earn a spot on the plane to Germany with England.

The central midfielder showed a real matureness in the middle of the park, trusting his ability when under pressure and also providing a threat when driving forward. He has the potential to be a real star for his country.

France - Warren Zaire-Emery (PSG)

France also seem to have a talented midfielder on their books in the shape of Warren Zaire-Emery, who has been part of Paris Saint-Germain's first-team squad since the 2022/23 campaign.

The central midfielder has seen increased starting opportunities this season and both of his senior France caps have come this term, highlighting the progression he has been making.

Blessed with superb technical ability, Zaire-Emery brings good balance to the midfield and could be a real asset for Didier Deschamps.

Germany - Maximilian Beier (Hoffenheim)

Host nation Germany will be under pressure to deliver the goods on home soil and one player that could help them achieve this is Maximilian Beier, who is still waiting for his first senior cap.

The promising forward netted 16 times for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga in 2023/24, leaving only Deniz Undav (18) ahead of him in the Bundesliga scoring charts for German players, and he could show his worth if given an international chance by Julian Nagelsmann.

Portugal - Francisco Conceicao (Porto)

Portugal's Francisco Conceicao is another player to watch, with the winger looking back to his best since returning to Porto on loan from Ajax in September.

The 21-year-old is quick, has an eye for goal and looks set to cause havoc to opposition defenders, if given the chance by head coach Roberto Martinez this summer.

Spain - Lamine Yamal (Barcelona)

Spain's squad is full of talent and one player that stands out is Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, who has already been capped six times.

The winger became an established player for the Catalans last term, scoring five times and registering eight assists in La Liga, and he can showcase his talents on one of the biggest stages this summer.

Netherlands - Xavi Simons (PSG)

Following a productive season on loan at RB Leipzig - registering 21 goal contributions in the Bundesliga- PSG prospect Xavi Simons could be set to play a prominent role for the Netherlands at the Euros this summer.

With this Dutch generation strongest in defensive areas, the technically gifted Simons could emerge as a key attacking weapon for Ronald Koeman's side, who have been drawn in a tough group section alongside the much fancied France, Austria and Poland

Belgium - Arthur Vermeeren (Atletico Madrid)

Belgium's so-called 'Golden Generation' is now over but they do have some big talents coming through, one of those being midfielder Arthur Vermeeren.

Described by Mark Van Bommel as a "smart footballer that is eager to learn", Vermeeren looks like a real talent and one that could gain a lot from this international tournament.

Turkey - Arda Guler (Real Madrid)

Dubbed by local media as the 'Turkish Messi', it would be amiss not to have Turkey's Arda Guler on this list. The attacking midfielder is creative, quick-footed and a set-piece specialist, making him a huge asset for club and country.

Guler's move to Real Madrid in July 2023 started off in frustrating circumstances due to a number of injuries, but he has produced some eye-catching cameos in 2024 and he should be fresh and raring to go in Germany.

Ukraine - Georgiy Sudakov (Shakhtar Donestk)

One player who could put himself in line for a big money transfer move should he perform well in Germany is Ukrainian midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, who has been turning heads with some outstanding showings for Shakhtar Donetsk.

Recording 10 goal involvements in Ukraine's top flight in 2023/24, Sudakov will be a key creative threat for Ukraine at the Euros with Serhiy Rebrov's side targeting progression to the knockout stages.

Slovakia - Leo Sauer (Feyenoord)

Housed with Belgium, Ukraine and Romania, Slovakia will fancy their chances of getting out of the group and one player that could play a big role in this is Feyenoord's Leo Sauer, who has looked solid from limited appearances this season.

The skilful winger has bagged twice from 10 Eredivisie matches and he would bring extra attacking input to a Slovakia squad that looks a little short on goals.
