With head-to-head results being the first group tiebreaker, Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Flamengo in their second FIFA Club World Cup match means they can no longer win Group D.
They now face a final match against Esperance de Tunis to determine who will join the Brazilians in the round of 16, with MLS side Los Angeles FC already eliminated.
With the superior goal difference from their first two games, Chelsea need only to draw to advance to a last 16 clash against Bayern Munich or Benfica, but manager Enzo Maresca will be hoping to see his side get back on track with a second victory.

Best Bet: Chelsea win and over 2.5 goals @ 10/11
Chelsea have not really hit their stride yet at the Club World Cup but they should be capable of responding positively to the pressure of a head-to-head showdown with Esperance de Tunis for a place in the last 16.
Head coach Enzo Maresca will have to worry about the difficulties of a potential second-round clash against Bayern Munich later, but the UEFA Conference League champions have the ability to see off their north African opponents fairly comfortably if they are on song.
The final score of their second match looks grim for Chelsea fans but the Blues led Flamengo for almost 50 minutes of that contest and they had been efficient if not spectacular in their opening 2-0 win over MLS side Los Angeles FC.
With plenty of talented forward options still available despite the suspension of Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea should be able to succeed in a match that produces at least three goals.
Esperance were clearly second-best in their opening game against Flamengo, losing 2-0, and there wasn't much between the sides in their contest with eliminated LAFC, in which both teams had 10 shots but the Tunisians pinched the points with a 70th-minute goal from the lively Youcef Belaili.
Phil Agius explains:
Chelsea will need to show more than they have so far to really make a mark in this competition but the Premier League side should have enough about them to progress to the last 16 fairly comfortably.
Over 3 goals
Pedro Neto to score or assist a goal
Khalil Guenichi to be booked
Pays 12/1
There should be more urgency from both sides in this match than we saw in the cagey opening encounters in this group and it wouldn't be a surprise if Chelsea played in a second successive match with four or more goals.
The Blues showed in their second-half slump against Flamengo that they are not always totally reliable at the back but they have looked lively going forward in both their matches.
Pedro Neto in particular has caught the eye and in addition to scoring in both games, he has been involved in plenty of good work setting up chances for his teammates. The Portuguese winger is well worth adding to our bet builder to either score again or assist a goal.
Keeping tabs on the Chelsea attackers could be frustrating work for the Esperance players and their defensive midfielder Khalil Guenichi looks a prime candidate to pick up a card in the match.
Guenichi has already been penalised for six fouls in the tournament and more desperate challenges could follow in this high-stakes contest.

Phil Agius adds:
Pedro Neto has been the pick of the Chelsea players so far at this tournament and the winger can have another strong performance against the Esperance defence.
