England Women vs Jamaica Women Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

It is less than a week until the Lionesses start the defence of their UEFA European Championship Women's crown against France in Zurich, and Sarina Weigman’s side should be confident they can head into battle having posted a morale-boosting victory over Jamaica in Leicester.

England have had a rather inconsistent 12 months ahead of this summer's big tournament in Switzerland, but the Reggae Girlz head into this match in poor form and are missing some key personnel, including Manchester city striker Khadija Shaw.

England Women vs Jamaica Women Prediction

Best Bet: Under 4.5 goals @ 11/8

Jamaica have lost their last two friendlies 4-0 against Mexico and the USA and are weakened by the absence of Khadija Shaw so it is difficult to see them having much joy up front in their clash with the Lionesses at the King Power Stadium.

For England, this final friendly could be used as a dress rehearsal for their first game at the UEFA European Championship Women 2025, which takes place against France in Zurich on Saturday, so there is little time to make adjustments before their title defence starts for real.

Sarina Wiegman’s team have scored more than two goals in just three of their last 16 internationals, so while they are hot favourites to sign off with a win, they may not run up a cricket score against the Reggae Girlz.

Ian Wilkerson explains:

There should be a party atmosphere in Leicester for England’s final game before the Women’s Euros, but Jamaica will look to keep things tight as long as possible as they look to boost their confidence after three straight defeats. It could take time for England to kick into gear so their win may not be as high-scoring as some anticipate.

  • Alessia Russo to score two or more goals
  • Second half to have most goals

England are heavily fancied to sign off with a win, and it is worth putting a victory to nil in a Bet Builder as the Lionesses have kept clean sheets in their last five home matches and Jamaica's attack is depleted.

Arsenal’s Alessia Russo could seize upon the opportunity to assert herself in the starting line-up for the France game, so she is a big price to score at least twice.

There is also a strong chance that the second half will see the highest number of goals as Jamaica will want to keep things tight early on and some of the fringe England players may look to make a big impression.

Ian Wilkerson adds:

Jamaica look blunt up front and look unlikely to score while the centre forward spot in the England team is up for grabs and Russo will be hungry to take her opportunity.

Tactics, Form and Team News

It seems likely that Sarina Wiegman will want to field a strong team for the final friendly and this could be a crucial game for Chelsea’s Lauren James, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury and will want to start against France next week.

This is also the first game England have played since central defender Millie Bright announced her international retirement so that will mean a reshuffle in the England back four.

England Women expected line-up (4-2-3-1): Hampton; Bronze, Williamson, Greenwood, Charles; Stanway, Walsh; Mead, James, Hemp; Russo.

Jamaica have gone three games without scoring a goal and their fortunes in that regard look unlikely to change with Khadija Shaw, one of the most feared strikers in the Women’s Super League, sitting this one out.

The Reggae Girlz will also have to deal without Taylor Hinds, Drew Spence, Rebecca Spencer and Benfica forward Jody Brown, so they look set to be in for a tough time.

Expected Jamaica line-up (4-4-2): Brooks; A van Zanten, A Swaby, C Swaby, Cameron; Adamolekun, Sampson, Primus, Blades; McKenna, Thomas.
