The honeymoon period seems to be over for Thomas Tuchel, who will be looking for a response after England's lacklustre 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Andorra on Saturday.
The Three Lions are top of World Cup qualifying Group K with three wins and three clean sheets, but they barely got out of first gear against the 173rd-ranked Andorrans, who were tentatively pushing for an equaliser towards the end of the game.
However, no harm was done from an England perspective and Tuchel’s side will attempt to win over the doubters with a strong performance against Senegal, who are significantly more demanding opposition.
Senegal are unbeaten in the World Cup qualifying - winning three and drawing three of their Group B matches - and started their two-match summer schedule with a 1-1 draw against Republic of Ireland in Dublin.

England made seriously hard work of beating Andorra on Saturday and are far from certain to pass a stiffer test against Senegal, who are one of Africa’s strongest teams.
The teams crossed paths in the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup with England registering a 3-0 victory, however, the visitors are 21 games unbeaten and preparing to deploy a stronger starting line up than was the case for Friday’s 1-1 draw away to Ireland.
Tuchel will be looking for a response after England’s below-par showing in Barcelona, but he may be disappointed.
Nine England players could be distracted by their involvement in the upcoming Club World Cup and many of the others look ready for a summer break.
Dan Childs explains:
England lacked energy and ideas against Andorra and it is hard to imagine them playing significantly better just four days later. Senegal have every chance of extending their unbeaten run.
Under 2.5 goals
Ismaila Sarr to have over 0.5 shots on target
Harry Kane to have under 3.5 shots
Pays 5/1
Senegal are involved in a lot of tight games. Each of their last six games have featured less than three goals, so siding with under 2.5 goals looks like a solid start for a Bet Builder.
Defences could be largely on top but England may be stretched by the pace and clever movement of Ismaila Sarr, who came off the bench to bag the equaliser against Ireland on Friday.
The Crystal Palace man played a key role in his club’s FA Cup success and looks overpriced to post a shot on target.
Efforts on goal may be rarer than usual for Harry Kane. The Bayern Munich striker has the Club World Cup on the horizon and his minutes could be restricted to afford an opportunity for Ivan Toney.

Dan Childs adds:
This Bet Builder anticipates a tight contest between well-matched sides. Clear-cut chances could be at a premium for Harry Kane and Senegal will look to threaten on the counter-attack and could carve out at least one decent opening for Ismaila Sarr.

Tuchel’s priority will be to get some energy and intensity into the side. He is expected to make several changes, including starts for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze and Anthony Gordon.
Expected England line-up (4-2-3-1): Henderson; Alexander-Arnold, Chalobah, Colwill, Lewis-Skelly; Rice, Bellingham; Madueke, Eze, Gordon; Kane.
Senegal should be stronger than they were for Friday’s 1-1 draw away to Ireland when several fringe players were given an opportunity.
First-choice goalkeeper Edouard Mendy should return between the sticks and the spine should be further strengthened by recalls for experienced centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and midfield veteran Idrissa Gueye.
Ismaila Sarr and Nicolas Jackson are expected to start with manager Pape Thiaw looking to use their pace in counter-attacking situations.
Expected Senegal line-up (4-2-3-1): E Mendy; A Mendy, Koulibaly, Niakhate, Jakobs; P Gueye, I Gueye; I Sarr, L Camara, I Ndiaye; Jackson.
