England began the process of moving on from Euro 2024 with an impressive 2-0 victory away to the Republic Ireland in their Nations League Group B2 opener and they can register an even more convincing success when taking on Finland at Wembley.
Interim Three Lions manager Lee Carsley favours a front foot style of football and got off to a great start as his players delivered a positive result and performance in Dublin.
Carsley will be looking for another vibrant display against Finland in his first home game in the hotseat.
Finland will anticipate a tough match and they head to London after a chastening 3-0 defeat away to Greece which leaves them propping up the section.
England to win 4-0 - 8/1
England have not scored more than three goals in any of their last 18 internationals but they already look a much more dynamic team under interim manager Lee Carsley and can register a thumping victory over Finland, who appear to be among the weaker teams in the Nations League’s second tier.
Progress was made under former England head coach Gareth Southgate, who led the team to a World Cup semi-final and two European Championship finals.
But England often found it tricky to cut loose against lower ranked opponents, who were happy to sit back and play on the counter-attack.
And there were plenty of those instances at Euro 2024 with England drawing with Denmark (1-1) and Slovenia (0-0) and scraping unconvincing victories over Serbia (1-0) and Slovakia (2-1).
However, there was a much more vibrant England on display at the weekend and the improvement came about despite the absences of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer.
England played high tempo, passing football and had natural width with Buyako Saka and Anthony Gordon operating down the flanks.
They scored excellent goals and saw out the game impressively, winning the shot count 16 to six and establishing a 76.4 per cent share of possession.
While England got their Nations League campaign off to a flying start, Finland were thumped 3-0 away to Greece.
The Finns had a miserable weekend and it was compounded by injuries to midfield duo Kaan Kairinen and Rasmus Schuller which have left them in a weaker state for the trip to London.
Markku Kanerva’s side have shipped 13 goals on their last four road trips, including the March 4-1 loss away to Wales which ended their hopes of Euro 2024 qualification.
Finland will do their best to perform a damage limitation exercise but they face a tough task against Carsley’s confident hosts, who look tasty 8/1 shots to post a 4-0 victory.
England to win both halves - 11/10
England succumbed to a shock 1-0 loss to Iceland in their last home game but they will be hungry to impress in Carsley’s first home game in charge and can dominate the game from start to finish.
Carsley may choose to look at a few more of his fringe players but the positive, high tempo approach is unlikely to be affected.
The Three Lions are likely to start quickly, as they did at the weekend, and can keep their foot on the pedal, ensuring a profit for anyone backing the home side to win both halves at 11/10.
Adam Stahl to be booked - 11/4
England attacked with a lot of pace and width in their victory over Ireland and a similar approach should ensure a tough night’s work for Finland full backs Adam Stahl and Tomas Galvez.
The right-sided Stahl was booked twice for his club, Djurgarden, last month and he looks an overpriced 11/4 shot to receive another caution.
