Erik ten Hag's Manchester United won the EFL Cup in 2022/23, landing the first trophy of the English domestic season with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle at Wembley.
We've taken a look through the odds to win this season’s EFL Cup.

Man City to win the EFL Cup
Arsenal to win the EFL Cup
Liverpool to win the EFL Cup
Man Utd to win the EFL Cup
Chelsea to win the EFL Cup
Newcastle to win the EFL Cup |
The Citizens have won the League Cup on eight occasions – only Liverpool, with nine, have a better record – and they could prove hard to beat in 2023/24 having been installed as 3/1 favourites.
Pep Guardiola's side do however face a tricky start to the competition as they travel to Eddie Howe's Newcastle United in what should be a mouth-watering third round clash at St James' Park.
Arsenal are the most successful club in the history of the FA Cup, winning it 14 times, but their EFL Cup record is surprisingly poor. The Gunners have won it only twice, the same number as Norwich, Birmingham and Wolves, and their most recent triumph came in 1993 when they won the domestic cup double under George Graham.
Liverpool won the EFL Cup in 2021/22, beating Chelsea on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes to claim a record ninth success in the competition. Jurgen Klopp's side will host Leicester City at Anfield in the last 32.
Manchester United had to wait a long time for their first EFL Cup victory in 1992 and didn't claim a second triumph until 2006. Since then, however, they have taken their tally to six including back-to-back successes in 2009 and 2010 and they have to be respected in this season's EFL Cup betting at 7/1 to retain their crown.
After stumbling past AFC Wimbledon in the second round, Chelsea will be hoping for a success under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who led Tottenham to the EFL Cup final in 2015 when they lost 2-0 to the Blues.
