Newcastle will play host to quadruple-chasing Manchester City in the third round of the EFL Cup.
Though it's early to be talking about trebles and quadruples, only the EFL Cup was missing from Manchester City's collection last season, and having won the competitions in four straight years from 2018-2021, Pep Guardiola will surely be keen to get his hands on the trophy once again.
The third round of the 2023/24 EFL Cup will take place during the week commencing Monday 25th September 2023.
The fourth round draw for the EFL Cup will take place shortly after the culmination of all third round ties during the week commencing Monday 25 September 2023.
The EFL Cup fourth round draw will include 16 teams in total with no more teams to be added to the draw besides the winners from the third round.
From round three onwards, when the remaining eight premier League teams enter the fray, the draw will be open nationwide so that any side can draw each other.
Ties will be played over one-leg throughout the competition up until the semi-final stage, whereby matches will be played over two-legs.
