Dundee United v Aberdeen: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Sunday's late kick-off in the Scottish Premiership sees two of the top four go head-to-head at Tannadice Park as fourth-placed Dundee United host third-placed Aberdeen.

The Terrors head into this contest in a decent run of form, having lost just one of their last eight matches, while four consecutive home fixtures without defeat should stand them in good stead to trouble the Dons in this contest.

The visitors, meanwhile, have seen their early charge fall away over the course of the last month.

Their dreadful run has left Jimmy Thelin's men 13 points behind runaway league leaders Celtic and another tough day at the office looks in store this weekend.

Dundee United v Aberdeen betting tips and predictions

Dundee United to win - 5/4

United managed to hold Celtic to a goalless draw in their last league match at Tannadice and this impressive result could be bettered when they take an Aberdeen side with just one win from their last nine in all competitions.

The Terrors have also lost just one of their last five home meetings with the Dons in the league, so recent history is on the side of the hosts to pull off another good result on Sunday.

Aberdeen have lost three of their last four league matches and their form on the road is a major reason as to why their season has gone awry in recent weeks.

The Dons last took home all three points away from home in a 2-1 victory at Dundee in late September - a run of six straight matches on their travels without a win.

Only St Johnstone have taken fewer points (2) from their last five games in the Scottish Premiership than Aberdeen’s three, so it is difficult to have faith in the visitors putting up much of a stand in this encounter.

Under 2.5 goals - 10/11

The hosts have proved to be a difficult side to score against at Tannadice this season and their ability to frustrate opponents could see this being a low-scoring affair.

Only the powerhouses Celtic (2) and Rangers (3) have conceded fewer goals at home than the Terrors so far this term, with Jim Goodwin's men seeing their net rippled on just eight occasions.

United have kept clean sheets in three of their last four home matches - winning to nil against St Mirren and Ross County - and their last three have also seen winners in the under 2.5 goals market.

The Dons, meanwhile, have failed to score more than once in any of their last five and this profligacy in front of goal could well continue at the weekend.

Sam Dalby to score anytime - 13/8

United may not be prolific in front of goal - their 27 converted strikes are the joint-fourth best in the division alongside ninth-placed Dundee - but they do possess the league’s current top goalscorer among their ranks.

25-year-old Sam Dalby - currently on loan at the club from League One Wrexham - has hit the ground running in tangerine, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances for the Terrors.

Eight of these goals have come across his last nine appearances for Goodwin’s side - including three at home - and this purple patch of form could be set to continue against the struggling Dons.
