Dundee v Aberdeen: Predictions, Tips and Odds

Dundee can jump into the Premiership’s top half if they end a three-game winless run by beating Aberdeen, who have not won a league game since 2nd January.

Dundee v Aberdeen betting tips and predictions

Draw - 12/5

It was a 1-1 draw between Aberdeen and Dundee at Pittodrie at the end of January that proved the final straw for Barry Robson and ushered in the ill-fated Neil Warnock experiment.

Before Warnock took the reins, however, for a five-week stint which didn’t produce a single league win, Peter Leven was given interim charge of the Dons for a showdown with Celtic.

That game ended in a 1-1 draw, a commendable result which suggests Aberdeen are in prudent enough hands with Leven, who is back in caretaker charge once again until the Pittodrie board come up with a new name to take permanent control.

Warnock’s last hurrah was overseeing Saturday’s well-deserved 3-1 triumph over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, a victory which has set up a semi-final showdown with Celtic next month.

Before that there is the small matter of trying to get away from the bottom two which they have plunged towards on the back of a 10-match winless run in the league.

While automatic relegation shouldn’t be a concern, they are just four points above Ross County in 11th. Five of their 10 matches since their last win - against County on 2nd January - have ended in draws, and they ought to be well capable of claiming a point against Dundee in what promises to be a tight affair.

Three of the last six meetings between these sides have ended in draws, the other three being settled by the odd goal, so there is no obvious reason to believe there will be much between them on Wednesday night.

Dundee aren’t exactly flying either with just three wins since Christmas.

Last week’s 7-1 thrashing at Celtic was soul-destroying, though they recovered to at least draw 2-2 with Kilmarnock a few days later. It was a Killie side, though, who played the last half an hour with only 10 men.

Graeme Shinnie to be booked - 3/1

Graeme Shinnie was raging at the weekend after picking up a yellow card in Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Kilmarnock, a caution that sees him suspended for next month’s semi-final against Celtic at Hampden Park.

It was clearly tough on Shinnie, and it didn’t look an obvious bookable offence, but finding his way into a referee’s notebook is definitely part of the combative midfielder’s armory.

Shinnie has picked up 12 yellow cards this season, seven in the last seven weeks, so he definitely looks a serious contender to be booked at Dens Park.

The former Wigan and Scotland player picked up 13 yellow cards in 2016-17 and trumped that with 17 a season later.

And he signed off last term with red cards in back-to-back fixtures against St Johnstone and Ross County.

Under 10 Corners - 7/4

This has all the makings of a tight affair between two clubs in poor form. Not many goals are forecast, nor corners, with neither of these teams noted for piling them up.

When the sides drew 1-1 at Pittodrie in January in what was Robson’s final match in charge, there were just three corners, all going to the visitors.

Dundee average 5.5 corners per home game, Aberdeen 4.1 per away game.

The Corners 2-way market has been pitched at 11.5 but it may well be worth chancing effectively 9.5 by backing under 10 corners at 7/4.
