Only one point and three places separates Derby County and Swansea City in the early Championship standings and Wednesday's tussle at Pride Park is likely to be a hard-fought encounter decided by fine margins.
The Rams have made an excellent start to proceedings in the Championship following last season’s promotion from League One and after 16 games find themselves 11th, only six points outside the play-off places.
The Swans are one point behind the Rams and they will be looking to bounce back from successive defeats, having lost 1-0 at Burnley before being edged out in a seven-goal thriller at home to Leeds United on Sunday.
Derby draw no bet - 8/11
Home form was the catalyst for Derby’s promotion from League One last season, as they won 15 and drew four of their 23 outings and they have been a tough nut to crack at Pride Park in the Championship, too.
They have taken 14 of their 20 points at home, winning four and drawing two of their seven second-tier fixtures at Pride Park, which includes victories over Middlesbrough and Bristol City.
The only defeat in their last eight league games came in a 2-1 reverse at Stoke City and they should be hopeful of bolstering their strong start against the inconsistent Swans.
Swansea were far from disgraced in Sunday’s 4-3 defeat at home to title rivals Leeds, which came hot on the heels of a narrow 1-0 loss at fourth-placed Burnley.
But Luke Williams’ side, who favour a possession-based approach, have lost five of their eight away league games this season and are being let down by a lack of attacking intent.
Although the Swans netted three against Leeds, they had scored only 11 goals in their opening 15 league games, with only four of that tally coming in eight road outings.
City have fired blanks in five of their eight away trips and that may spell trouble at Derby, who have conceded only five goals in seven home games, keeping four clean sheets.
With all that considered, Derby may fancy putting home advantage to good use and they look the most likely winners in this Championship encounter.
Kayden Jackson to score at anytime - 10/3
With Derby's leading scorer Jerry Yates ineligible to face his parent club, there is an opportunity for somebody to seize the initiative and Kayden Jackson could step up to the plate.
Jackson has been starting out wide with Yates leading the line for the Rams in recent weeks, but he may find himself reverting back to his central striking position for this match.
The former Ipswich man has only scored twice in 16 appearances for Derby this season, but those goals came in home wins over Middlesbrough and Bristol City and he seems much happier when deployed up top.
Josh Tymon to be shown a card - 21/10
Swansea full-back Josh Tymon has picked up five bookings in 17 appearances this season and each of those yellow cards have come away from home, suggesting he could pick up another in what may be a fiercely contested encounter at Pride Park.
Tymon also collected nine cards in his final 25 Championship appearances last season and Derby have plenty of pace out wide to cause him problems.
Referee Ben Toner is averaging 5.21 yellow cards per game this season so, with the potential for plenty of bookings, the aggressive Tymon is a likely card candidate.
