Less than 30 miles separate Derby County and Chesterfield and the Rams will be hoping to live up to their Championship status in this EFL Cup first-round tie.
The Rams finished second in League One last season to seal promotion to the second tier and they may feel they have a class edge on Chesterfield, who were only promoted to League Two last season following their National League-winning campaign.
Derby will be looking to hit back from their 4-2 loss in the Championship opener away at Blackburn Rovers on Friday, while the Spireites have to respond to a 1-1 draw at home to Swindon Two in their League Two curtain-raiser.
Derby County v Chesterfield will be shown on Sky Sports+.
This EFL Cup first-round tie is set to kick off at 19:45 on Tuesday 13th August and will be played at Pride Park, Derby.
Both Derby and Chesterfield enjoyed promotion last season, but neither were able to get their league campaign off to a winning start.
Derby’s Championship campaign started with a 4-2 defeat away at Blackburn, while Chesterfield’s League Two season began with a frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Swindon.
The Rams were beaten 2-0 at home to Blackpool in the opening round of the EFL Cup last season, while the Spireites, having been promoted as National League champions last season, are featuring in the competition for the first time since 2017.
Although near neighbours, these two haven’t faced each other since 2015, when Derby eased past Chesterfield 2-0 in the FA Cup and that remains their only competitive meeting to date.
Chesterfield have been eliminated in the first round of this competition in each of their last 11 ties since knocking out Wolves in 2006-07.

The Rams look set to be without Corey Blackett-Taylor, Jake Rooney and Joe Ward, all of whom missed Friday’s defeat at Blackburn.
Captain Jamie Grimes missed Chesterfield’s opening-day draw with Swindon, but he is expected to play a part at Pride Park, while Mike Jones could also return to action.
Clubs can name nine subs in the cup, compared to seven in the league, so expect there to be an extra few faces on the bench.
