Derby v Bolton: Prediction, Tips and Odds

There is a huge League One clash taking place at Pride Park on Saturday, with hosts Debry and visitors Bolton both looking to gain automatic promotion to the Championship.

Three consecutive wins for the Rams have seen them leapfrog their Saturday opponents, while they have also cut the gap to league leaders Portsmouth to five points.

Bolton’s away form has let them down in recent weeks, with the Trotters winless in four on the road in the league and, with their last victory at Derby coming back in 1999, it is difficult to see this streak ending at the weekend.

Derby v Bolton betting tips and predictions

Derby to win and Both Teams to Score - 10/3

The Rams have kicked into gear over recent weeks and will be expected to control the game from the off, with home advantage likely to prove key in deciding the result on Saturday.

Paul Warne’s men have won seven of their last ten fixtures and currently boast the fifth best home record in the division, picking up 37 points in front of their own fans this campaign.

Derby have won each of their last five meetings with Bolton and Pride Park and are currently on a nine game unbeaten streak at home against their weekend opposition.

Thirteen of their 25 home fixtures this season in all competitions has seen both teams find the back of the net, so there may be some joy for the Trotters in Derbyshire, who have failed to score in just one of their last seven League One away games.

However, these goals have not always meant wins, as Ian Evatt’s men have won just one of their last six on the road, including draws at mid-table Northampton and Exeter which have dented their promotion push.

Another winless weekend is expected for the Trotters.

Over 2.5 Goals - 19/20

With both sides needing three points to be in the driving spot for automatic promotion, this could be a high-scoring affair and the two clubs have been involved in many entertaining matches over the course of this season.

Each of Derby’s last five fixtures has seen winners in the over 2.5 goals market while the same can be said for seven of Bolton’s last nine - including each of their last three, with at least four goals scored in each.

Recent head-to-heads have also seen regular winners in this metric, with three of the last four meetings seeing at least three goals scored.

This includes the reverse fixture back in September, where goals from Dion Charles and Josh Cogley secured victory for Bolton.

Dwight Gayle to score anytime - 2/1

The Rams are blessed with one of the most talented squads in the third tier, with a host of former Premier League stars showing their class on a weekly basis.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane has dictated from the midfield with ease, while Nathaniel Mendez-Laing - who spent a year in the top-flight with Cardiff City - has been a revelation on the wing, registering 22 goal contributions in League One including 14 assists.

However, their biggest goal threat recently has come via their newest acquisition, with former Crystal Palace and Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle scoring three goals across his first five appearances for the club.

This run of form is the first time that the 34-year old has scored in consecutive games since 2019, with the striker saying in an interview that this scoring streak has helped him rediscover his love for the game.

Gayle will likely be one of the first names on the teamsheet for Paul Warne and, with the purple patch he finds himself in, he could be a worthy bet to extend his scoring run.
