Denmark v Serbia Prediction, Tips and Odds: Hojbjerg to test Serbia keeper

Group C has been a tight and turgid affair so far but you can expect some welcome late drama in Munich when Denmark take on Serbia.

Denmark and Serbia have their fates in their own hands going into the last round of Group C fixtures, but will be wary that a slip-up would spell curtains.

Both have provided moments of quality in a section without a stand-out performer, with the Danes in a better position heading to Munich having drawn both their matches against Slovenia and England.

They are 6/5 to beat 11/5 shots Serbia, who needed a late Luka Jovic goal to earn them a 1-1 draw with Slovenia on Thursday to get them on the board.

Denmark to win - 6/5

Wins have been hard to come by in a group where three of the four matches have ended 1-1, but back Denmark to come good against Serbia.

The Danes, decent in their drawn game with Slovenia and better still in the stalemate with England, can consider themselves unlucky to be on two points and still needing something to get over the line and into the last 16.

A point may well be enough against Serbia to see them into the knockout rounds but it certainly won't be for the Serbians, whose plight means this could turn into a decent and quite open affair.

Dragan Stojkovic's men are on just one point, acquired by a late equaliser against Slovenia. Before that they had been beaten 1-0 by England, finishing strongly but struggling to create chances.

So far, the Serbs have carved out 21 chances and got just five on target. Denmark have managed 32 chances, 11 of which have been on target.

Serbia may have the strikers with the reputations in Aleksandar Mitrovic, Jovic and Dusan Vlahovic, but they have found teeing them up difficult. The Danes are building better and look nicely organised and accordingly are making chances.

And this game looks ideally suited to the Danes. Serbia are going to have to be positive in pursuit of a win at some point and if the game is tight for a long period, means Denmark will get chances on the counter.

Denmark came into this tournament in better form than Serbia, who made hard work of qualifying in second place from a fairly easy group.

Serbia have started abysmally in both their games so far and only come to life in adversity.

But Denmark have a triangle in Pierre Hojbjerg, Morten Hjulmand and Christian Eriksen who will run the midfield, leave the Serbs feeding off scraps and ensure last time's semi-finalists get a run at repeating that feat.

Last goal time after 74:59 - 5/6

The climax of Group A on Sunday night showed that desperate measures provide frantic finales and a late goal or two in Munich should not be ruled out.

Serbia's only goal so far was Jovic's 95th minute effort against Slovenia as they hammered away at trying to come back from a 1-0 deficit.

Indeed, the slow-starting Serbs are generally leaving it late to have a real go and are going to have to do the same again if they can't grab an early lead against Denmark.

Equally, if the Serbs score then Denmark are facing elimination and the boot is switched to the other foot.

Either way, a group that has been simmering away could burst into life late on with the last goal coming after 74:59 a worthwhile option.

Pierre Hojbjerg Over 0.5 Shots on Target - 7/4

Pierre Hojbjerg, as Spurs and Southampton fans will know, is at his best when breaking up play in midfield, but he is showing his attacking side at Euro 2024.

In the first two rounds of Group C game the Denmark midfielder had fired off five shots, four of which were on target. Only Romelu Lukaku over the first two rounds had hit the target more often.

Playing alongside another defensive midfielder in Hjulmand has given Hojbjerg a licence to go box-to-box and that makes him a genuine threat to Serbia.

He loves a pop from distance and he looks very nicely priced to have at least one shot on target.
