Crystal Palace have had a tough start to the new Premier League season, but will hope to see off Championship Norwich City in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The Canaries are still looking for their first league success in the Championship and continue to adjust to life under new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, so they could be in for a tough time at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace to win & over 2.5 goals - 21/20
Big things were expected at Palace heading into the new Premier League season following a storming finish to the last campaign, but the Eagles have not been soaring and could welcome an EFL Cup distraction.
Manager Oliver Glasner has a strong impact at Selhurst Park, but he has been unable to rediscover the magic so far, as Palace have fallen to defeats against London rivals Brentford and West Ham.
The departure of star creative force Micheal Olise to Bayern Munich has hit hard, with Jordan Ayew and Joachim Andersen also leaving and doubts about Marc Guehi’s future as the transfer-window closure approaches.
Still, despite a poor EFL Cup record - they have fallen at the first hurdle in three of the last five years - the hosts should still have too much for a Norwich team getting to grips with life under a new boss and who are still looking for their first league win of the season after three Championship matches.
Thorup saw his team lose at promoted Oxford United on the opening day and will have been frustrated by draws against Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road.
They squeezed past League One Stevenage 4-3 in the last round and as the Eagles’ 2-0 defeat to the Hammers was only the second time in the last 10 matches that there have not been at least three goals at Selhurst Park, Palace can come out on top in a game that features at least three on Tuesday.
Odsonne Edouard to score at any time - 6/4
Jean-Philippe Mateta was the star of the show in the closing weeks of Palace's season, but the striker may welcome a rest after his Olympics involvement with France, so this is a chance for Odsonne Edouard to make his mark.
He was positive in the defeat to the Hammers, having four efforts on goal and he was on target when he played an early-campaign EFL Cup game in the last two seasons against Oxford and Plymouth Argyle.
Mateta’s 10 goals in the final eight league matches of last season have firmly established him as the main man at Selhurst Park, but Edouard should be hungry to impress and can make his mark against a Championship defence.
Jack Stacey to be booked - 10/3
Norwich right-back Jack Stacey could be in for a testing evening and it would not be a surprise if the former Luton Town and Bournemouth man went into the book.
That has happened in the Canaries’ last two matches against Sheff Utd and Blackburn and the 28-year-old committed a total of five fouls across those two matches.
Whoever Glasner fields in his Palace line-up, they can be expected to attack the City rearguard at pace, which means Stacey could have his hands full.
He picked up just five yellow cards last season, but he could still be vulnerable against players pushing for regular inclusion in the Eagles’ Premier League line-up.
