Crystal Palace had a superb end to last season but they have been unable to find their feet in the new campaign and have yet to post a victory in their four Premier League matches this term.
That makes them vulnerable against Manchester United, who steadied their own ship with a 3-0 win at Southampton before crushing Barnsley 7-0 in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
Manchester United to win - 13/10
Crystal Palace claimed a 4-0 victory over Manchester United in May, but that all seems like a long time ago as Eagles boss Oliver Glasner needs to pick his team up from an indifferent start to the campaign.
There was plenty of optimism around Selhurst Park over the summer, but opening defeats against Brentford and West Ham showed there was plenty of work to be done if they were going to push for a top-half Premier League finish or even better.
They have drawn their last two games against Chelsea and Leicester City, but the squad is still getting to grips with the departures of Michael Olise, Jordan Ayew and Joachim Andersen, so it could be a slow process despite EFL Cup victories over Championship sides Norwich City and QPR.
The spotlight has been shining on Manchester United even more than usual with many thinking their FA Cup victory over Manchester City in May provided only a stay of execution for manager Erik ten Hag.
That speculation was rife after a shocking 3-0 home defeat to fierce rivals Liverpool before the international break, but a 3-0 win at Southampton has given the Red Devils a massive lift.
While it would be easy to overrate a 7-0 win over League One Barnsley, that should still give them another huge confidence boost and Ten Hag’s side should be confident that they can post another away league success.
Over 3.5 goals - 6/4
Palace are unlikely to sit back as they aim to break their duck for the league season and there looks to be a strong chance that there will be plenty of goals at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Nine of Palace’s last 12 home league games have featured at least three goals and there looks a decent case for going further and saying there could be four in this one.
Two successive clean sheets will help United’s defensive confidence, but they could still have their hands full, particularly with the robust Jean-Philippe Mateta likely to cause problems.
The home side will be a threat from set pieces, something that will have to be curtailed, but United, who have scored in 11 of their last 12 away league games, could just have the edge up front and come through to take three points from a high-scoring match.
Marcus Rashford to score at any time - 5/2
Striker Marcus Rashford has become the focus for a lot of the frustration that has surrounded on-the-field issues at Old Trafford, but the England striker will have had a huge weight lifted from his shoulders after he scored his first goal since March in the victory at St Mary’s.
Rashford has always been a player who can sometimes let his head drop too easily, but the events of the last week should ensure he is in a happy place, particularly after he helped himself to a brace in the rout against Barnsley.
He should be able to build on that and it would not be a surprise if he netted in his third successive game at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
