Crystal Palace v Everton: Prediction, Tips and Odds

A good recent run of form for both Crystal Palace and Everton has moved both teams clear of the relegation fight and both now looking to secure a top-half finish.

Palace head into Saturday’s clash after just one defeat in their last seven Premier League fixtures, although their home form will be a concern for Oliver Glasner.

Selhurst Park is normally something of a fortress for the Eagles, but they have won just two of their 12 home league fixtures this season - with the victories coming against Tottenham and Southampton.

Everton head to the capital unbeaten in four Premier League matches and come into this fixture following a dramatic Merseyside derby in midweek.

Draw - 12/5

Everton’s confidence will have been boosted by their injury-time equaliser against Liverpool on Wednesday, but their squad was further hit by injury and suspension.

The Toffees are already missing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dwight McNeill, Armando Broja, Orel Mangala, Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson, with two more players added to the lengthy list of absentees.

Iliman Ndiaye suffered a medial knee ligament injury in the Merseyside derby, with Moyes confirming he faces ‘weeks’ on the sidelines.

Abdoulaye Doucoure will also sit out the trip to Palace through suspension, having collected a red card after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw.

With the number of players unavailable, Moyes may be left with no other alternative but to play a more defensive formation and try to keep the hosts at arm’s length.

It’s also worth noting that Palace are without three first-team squad members, in Cheick Doucoure, Joel Ward and Chadi Riad.

More concerning for Palace fans is that Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr and Eddie Nketiah all face late fitness tests.

Three of the last six meetings between the sides have been draws, including two 0-0 scorelines in the last three encounters at Selhurst Park.

Under 2.5 goals - 4/6

The lack of fit forwards in the Everton squad coupled with the fitness concerns over Palace’s key attackers, suggests there won’t be a lot of goals on Friday evening.

Outside of the bottom three, the Toffees have the worst scoring record in the league, with 25 goals in 24 games.

Only seven of those 25 goals have come away from Goodison Park, with four of the seven goals on the road coming from the absent Ndiaye.

Palace haven’t been much more prolific, with 28 goals in 24 league games and drawing a blank in four home matches this term.

Under 2.5 goals has landed in four of the Eagles’ last five games in all competitions and also in all of Everton’s last four away games.

There has also been two or less goals in three of the last four meetings between the two teams, including a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park in last season’s FA Cup.

Idrissa Gueye to be booked - 3/1

With Palace expected to have the majority of the possession, Everton will have to do a lot of defending and a lot of the onus will be on their midfield to help out the back four.

Idrissa Gueye played a key role in helping the Blues secure a point against their rivals, but was one of six players to be cautioned on Wednesday night.

That was the Senegal international’s fifth yellow card of the season and he looks to have a tough battle ahead of him on Saturday.

Gueye and Jefferson Lerma are likely to go head-to-head, with the Palace midfielder having collected four cautions so far this campaign.
