Crystal Palace v Aston Villa: Prediction, Tips and Odds

It's been an end-of-season to remember for Crystal Palace and Aston Villa ahead of their final day clash at Selhurst Park.

Palace, in relegation trouble when Oliver Glasner assumed office, have been transformed and could yet finish in the top half of the Premier League.

Villa, meanwhile, were celebrating on Tuesday night without even playing when Tottenham's loss to Manchester City guaranteed them a fourth-place finish and a spot in next season's Champions League.

Crystal Palace & Both Teams to Score - 15/8

It's mission accomplished for Unai Emery, whose Villa side can enjoy their day out in London just a few days after having their place in next season's Champions League confirmed.

Tottenham's 2-0 loss to Manchester City secured fourth spot for Villa and means they are free of any pressure as they sign off for 2023/24.

However, as well as no pressure they are also slightly out of form, missing key players and under no incentive at Selhurst Park where the in-form hosts are the shout in what should be an entertaining affair.

It shows how little is riding on this for Villa (combined with an upsurge in Palace's form) that Glasner's men are 17/20 to send their fans home from Selhurst Park with something to cheer.

That's a real end-of-season price though the Eagles do have plenty in their favour, nothing better than the form they are in.

Glasner has breathed life into Palace in just a couple of months and a record of five wins and a draw in their last six matches is bettered only by Manchester City.

The 49-year-old has completely altered the way Palace set up and given them far more of a licence than Roy Hodgson ever did.

He has struck gold in the form of players like Daniel Munoz, Adam Wharton and a born-again Nathaniel Clyne, though it's the health and well-being of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze which has been the key.

Glasner has been fortunate to have the superstar duo available in tandem where his predecessor rarely did, and he uses them wisely.

They have starred in wins over the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United in the past month and confidence throughout the team has accordingly gone through the roof.

For Villa, this is a free hit and that makes them a danger, but it's not been a normal week for them and they could easily come off the top.

Emery is also missing several players and will be tempted to reward a few of Villa Park's younger prospects in a match that doesn't have a great deal riding on it.

They are also without a win in five and probably ready for the summer break - which they can start early. Take Palace and both teams to score at 15/8.

Tyrick Mitchell to score or assist - 3/1

Munoz is winning plaudits galore for the role he plays on Palace's right-hand side, but Tyrick Mitchell's improvements on the opposite side should not be understated.

Tough-tackling Mitchell is embracing the attacking side of his new position under Glasner and has contributed two goals and three assists, with one of each during this current six-game unbeaten streak.

Galloping forward to pair up with Eze on the left, take a chance on the 24-year-old being involved in a goal or an assist, especially now that the right side of Villa's defence has become something of a problem area due to injuries.

Over 4.5 Villa Corners - 11/10

Even allowing for the fact that Villa have nothing on the line at Selhurst Park, they'll still want to sign off with a decent performance.

And while that might not necessarily add up to a win, it should involve them winning at least five corners.

Villa have averaged more corners away from home this season (6.3) than at home (6.0) and they have been positive all campaign so can stretch Palace over the course of the 90 minutes.
