OddsTorino 1/4, Draw 5/1, Feralpisalo 11/1

Torino won the last of their five Coppa Italia crowns 30 years ago, but they will expect to progress through their opening tie of the season when they welcome newly-promoted Serie B outfit Feralpisalo to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Feralpisalo were promoted to the second tier of Italian football for the first time in their history last term and they built much of their success during 2022/23 on a strong defence, conceding just 21 goals in 38 league games.

No ground saw fewer goals in Serie A last season than the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, with Il Toro accounting for just 15 of the 34 that did find the back of the net.

While the hosts should have too much for Feralpisalo, this may be a lower scoring affair then they would perhaps hope, making the home win an under 3.5 goals in the match a decent option at 11/10 in the Result/Total Goals market.

Cremonese's home record to steer them through

WhatCremonese v Crotone
WhereStadio Giovanni Zini, Cremona
When16:45, Monday 14th August

OddsCremonese 4/9, Draw 10/3, Crotone 7/1

Cremonese were relegated from Serie A last season, conceding the second-most goals in the top flight, but they did end the campaign by losing just one of their final five home matches.

Earning promotion back to the top flight will be the main aim for Davide Ballardini's team during 2023/24, but after reaching the Coppa Italia semi-finals last season, they will be hoping for another extended run in the competition.

The Grigiorossi will certainly expect to overcome third-tier Crotone on home soil, but they kept just six clean sheets in the league last term, which means backing the home win and both teams to score at 11/5 could be the way to go.

Crotone narrowly missed out on promotion last season, but they did score in six of their final eight matches of the campaign.

Samp in transition ahead of cup clash

WhatSampdoria v Sudtirol
WhereStadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa
When17:00, Monday 14th August

OddsSampdoria 3/4, Draw 5/2, Sudtirol 4/1

There has been plenty of turmoil surrounding Sampdoria over recent months, as last season's relegation from Serie A was almost followed by bankruptcy before a takeover of the club in May.

Former Italy star Andrea Pirlo has since been appointed as Samp's head coach, but with a flurry of incomings and outgoings at the club over the summer, he may need time to get his team up and running, with Monday's cup clash with Sudtirol perhaps coming too early in the Pirlo project.

Sudtirol would have been taking Samp's place in Serie A this season had they not lost in the Serie B play-offs last term, but Sergio Cosmi will be hopeful his side can capitalise on the overhaul at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and at least take this match to extra time.

The 19/20 about Sudtirol in the Double Chance market certainly looks a tempting option.

Low-scoring contest expected at the Picco

WhatSpezia v Venezia
WhereStadio Dino Manuzzi, Cesena
When20:00, Monday 14th August
How to watchbet365 Sports Live Streaming
OddsSpezia 7/10, Draw 14/5, Venezia 4/1

Spezia were relegated from Serie A via a tie-breaker play-off with Hellas Verona at the end of last season, with their major issue being a lack of goals - they scored just 31 from their 38 league games during 2022/23.

They will now open the new campaign against fellow Serie B outfit Venezia in the Coppa Italia and this is a fixture that has tended to lack goals of late, with under 2.5 having been scored in seven of the last eight meetings.

Given Spezia's lack of goals and Venezia likely to want to keep things tight when they visit the Stadio Alberto Picco, this could be another low-scoring affair and it is 19/20 that less than three goals are scored across the 90 minutes.
