There is a big League Two clash taking place at SMH Group Stadium on Wednesday, when Chesterfield host MK Dons.
Both teams went into the League Two season as two of the ante-post title favourites and, while both have been dealt some recent setbacks, they remain in play-off contention.
The Spireites sit ninth, two points outside the play-off places, having endured successive defeats away at Fleetwood Town and Bradford City.
However, having won six straight league games from the middle of October until the beginning of December, MK Dons have been found out recently and head to the SMH Group Stadium in even worse form.
Scott Lindsey’s side have taken only one point from their last four league games and they may be fearing the worst having suffered a 6-3 hiding away at Newport in their most recent road trip.
Chesterfield to win and over 2.5 goals - 9/4
Chesterfield have endured successive defeats on away trips to Fleetwood and Bradford but they are a different proposition on home soil, where they have won their last five matches in all competitions.
The Spireites have won their last three home league games to nil against Barrow, Tranmere and AFC Wimbledon, but this promises to be a little more entertaining given the visitors’ defensive woes.
Dons, who are winless in four, have kept only one clean sheet in their last 16 league games and ironically that came in an easy 3-0 success over Chesterfield at the beginning of December.
However, Chesterfield are evidently more reliable at home and this is a perfect time to be hosting Dons, who were swatted aside 6-3 at Newport in their last away game.
Dons have conceded in every away game, being breached 16 times in eight road trips, and both teams have scored in their last five matches on their travels.
That lends itself to an entertaining encounter, but Chesterfield have suffered only one defeat in 11 home league games this term and are expected to hold the aces.
Armando Dobra to score at any time - 5/2
With top scorer Will Grigg having missed Chesterfield’s last two matches through injury, his participation is surely in doubt and that means Armando Dobra could be the hosts’ leading scorer candidate.
Dobra, who came through the Ipswich academy and has represented Albania at U21 level, is a player of immense potential and he has chipped in with six goals in 23 appearances this season.
The promising 23-year-old can be deployed as an attacking midfielder or a winger and he was on target in Chesterfield’s recent 2-1 defeat at Bradford, having opened the scoring in the first half.
That means Dobra has scored in four of his last six starts, with three of those goals coming at home, and he could bolster his growing reputation against the out-of-form Dons.
Over 9 corners - 5/6
This may be more about attack than defence and going over nine corners could reap the rewards with both sides likely to go on the front foot.
Chesterfield’s matches in League Two this season are averaging 9.74 corners per outing and, although Dons’ average is only 8.29, their last three games have reached corner tallies of 11, nine and 13.
Only Notts County and Tranmere are averaging more corners at home this season than Chesterfield and they warrant favouritism in this encounter, so should get plenty of opportunities to bolster that tally.
