Chelsea turn their attention back to the Premier League on Sunday as they entertain Crystal Palace after confirming their place in the Conference League in midweek.
New Blues boss Enzo Maresca has made a decent start to life at Stamford Bridge with three points from two games, while the honeymoon period may be over for Palace counterpart Oliver Glasner after opening the campaign with back-to-back losses.
Chelsea -1 handicap - 6/4
It has been a quick turnaround for Chelsea as they were involved in a midweek Conference League qualifier at Servette on Thursday ahead of this league game on Sunday, but Maresca did shuffle his pack for that match and at this early stage in the season fatigue shouldn’t be a big issue.
The Blues have a fantastic recent record against Palace as they have won each of the last 14 meetings between the London rivals. Palace’s last win over Chelsea came in 2017, and with home advantage Maresca’s men can continue their dominance in the fixture.
Chelsea crushed Wolves 6-2 last weekend at Molineux and they can beat Palace with some room to spare on Sunday, although the margin of victory may not be quite as large as that.
The hosts beat Servette 2-0 in their last home game and performed well in a 2-0 loss to Manchester City in their only league match at this venue this season. Chelsea won their final five home games last term and three of those came by two or more goals, while Palace have conceded four times and scored just once across their two league fixtures this season and may struggle to cope with an in-form Chelsea team.
Noni Madueke to score anytime - 3/1
Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson are the usual suspects when it comes to possible anytime scorers for Chelsea but a bit further down the betting it is Noni Madueke, who catches the eye after his hat-trick heroics at Wolves.
The 22-year-old managed a solid five goals and two assists in 23 Premier League games last season but is showing signs of enjoying a breakthrough campaign.
Madueke opened his account for the season in the 2-0 win over Servette in the first leg of Chelsea’s Conference League play-off and went on to produce an exceptional display at Wolves.
Madueke, who started his youth career at Palace before joining PSV in the Netherlands, had a fairly quiet game at Servette in midweek but could prove to be one of Chelsea’s key threats on Sunday, and he represents a value option in the anytime scorer market at 3/1.
Adam Wharton over 0.5 shots on target - 5/2
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is more known for his defensive capabilities but he has been getting a few chances in the early stages of the season.
Wharton has arguably been the Eagles’ best player in both of their league games and he has managed four attempts in total, with two of those on target.
The 20-year-old is yet to score in the Premier League after joining Palace in the winter window last season but he has shown he can be a threat going forward at times and at 5/2 he appeals to at least test the keeper at Stamford Bridge.
