Celtic have won four games from four across all competitions this season and they are out to maintain that winning record in Sunday’s Old Firm clash.
The Bhoys have already opened up a two-point lead over their bitter rivals, and that looks set to be extended this weekend. The Gers have made a mixed start, dropping points in the league and falling out of the Champions League. Can they make up for that with a victory at Celtic Park?
Adam Idah to score anytime - 6/5
Celtic were able to bring Adam Idah back to the club after signing him on loan in February. The Irish international made a strong impression in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, scoring eight goals in 15 Premiership appearances to help the Bhoys to the title.
Idah also had quite the impact in Old Firm clashes, scoring in two of his three games against Rangers after arriving at the club. He came off the bench to score vital late goals in a league clash at Ibrox and the Scottish Cup final in May.
After sinking the Gers at Hampden, the Irishman is capable of causing more problems at Celtic Park. Idah was handed a start at St Mirren last weekend after rejoining from Norwich and he can make an impact in Sunday’s clash. Back him at 6/5 to score anytime, while Idah to score last also holds some appeal at 4/1.
Celtic to score 3+ goals - 6/4
Celtic have made a high-scoring start to the season, which followed a summer that saw them put four past each of Chelsea and Manchester City. The Bhoys have scored 12 goals across their first four matches of the season and Brendan Rodgers looks to be pushing for more.
Getting Idah back strengthens the competition up top, while Nicolas Kuhn, Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor have been stepping up with goals from midfield. With the champions really clicking going forward, this could be a tough afternoon for Rangers.
The Gers aren’t looking entirely settled at the back and they conceded eight times across the four league clashes between the pair last season. Sunday’s trip looks set to be even tougher for Philippe Clement’s men, with the hosts heavy favourites for the points.
Last year’s meetings showed the gap between the pair and Celtic can lay down a marker in the first meeting of the season. The Bhoys have scored 11 times across their last four home league clashes with Rangers, so back over 2.5 goals for the hosts.
Callum McGregor to score from outside the box - 15/2
Celtic’s Callum McGregor has made a real impression across their last two league games, scoring in each. The midfielder has been trying his luck from distance of late and has been impressive, scoring with his only shot on target in his last two league appearances.
While that strike rate won’t last forever, it might not yet be over. Rangers have conceded 29 shots per game in the league this term, quite a lot more than Celtic’s tally of 12 shots faced per game.
The Gers conceded 18 shots to Hearts in their only league trip of the season so far. That record suggests Celtic should have some joy this weekend, especially with efforts from distance.
Given McGregor’s strong start, he stands out at 15/2 to score a goal from outside the box in Sunday’s clash.
