Celtic v Aberdeen: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Celtic return home after the most bruising week of their season determined to end a two-game winless streak by beating Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops were stung by a 2-1 loss at Hibernian at the weekend which halted their march towards a fourth straight title and they won't take early-season surprise packages Aberdeen lightly.

Celtic v Aberdeen betting tips and predictions

Celtic to win & Under 3.5 Goals @ 6/4

Aberdeen were genuine top-two contenders when they played Celtic at the back end of 2024, but everything has changed since then.

Just six points separated Brendan Rodgers' champions from Jimmy Thelin's impressive underdogs as the two teams lined up at Pittodrie on December 4th.

Reo Hatate's late goal was the only goal that day as the Bhoys stretched their lead over Aberdeen and Rangers to nine points.

Now, less than three months later, 28 points separates these two and expect that gap to be 31 by close of play on Tuesday.

Celtic will certainly be smarting after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Hibernian, just their second league defeat of what has otherwise been another superb season.

Four days after their titanic effort in Germany at Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League play-off round second leg you could forgive them feeling and looking weary at Easter Road.

And in terms of form figures, David Gray's Hibs are probably the best team in the Scottish top-flight after the Glasgow giants right now.

By the end, Rodgers' men were hammering at the Hibs' door but just couldn't find a goal to add to Daizen Maeda's tenth in his last 10.

As for Aberdeen, their results have been hugely disappointing. They opened their season with an electric 13-game winning streak which was only ended by a 2-2 draw against Celtic.

They then won their next three in the league - including 2-1 against Rangers - to cement the notion that they could actually finish second.

In fairness and with hindsight, their flying start flattered them somewhat though few would have predicted the 14-game Premiership winless streak which followed.

They ended that run 10 days ago with a 2-1 win at Dundee and subsequently beat Kilmarnock, so at least they go to Celtic in a better frame of mind than a fortnight ago.

None of their last 11 matches in any competition has produced more than three goals so, while Celtic are hard to enthuse about at 1/6, the hosts and Under 3.5 Goals at 6/4 looks more likely.

Jota - First Goalscorer @ 11/4

Portuguese ace Jota was given a rest at Easter Road on Saturday, coming off the bench at half-time in the 2-1 defeat to Hibs.

He was certainly instrumental in a vastly improved second-half performance from the champions and can expect to start against the Dons.

Jota, who returned to Celtic from Rennes last month having initially left Glasgow for Saudi side Al Ittihad in 2023, managed a couple of efforts in the second half at Hibs, one on target.

In four league appearances since returning to the Scottish giants - two starts, two from the bench - he has scored two goals and will be a key player in the run-in.

He is averaging 1.8 shots per game and is well worth chancing to open the scoring at 11/4.

No Goal Before 21:00 @ 5/6

Celtic have not scored inside the first 21 minutes of any of their last four matches and were definitely slow out of the blocks at Easter Road at the weekend.

Rodgers will demand more intensity from the off against Aberdeen, but that doesn't necessarily guarantee an early breakthrough.

The first goal time in a Celtic fixture is always early, but there looks a good case for betting later than 21:00 at 5/6.

Certainly the visitors won't be rolling over. Their last 11 games have produced only two goals scored before 21:00, as they have looked to put the brakes on a desperate winless run.

Celtic and Aberdeen have met each other three times this season, twice in the league, once in the League Cup and those games have produced 11 goals in total.

The earliest of those arrived in the 24th minute.
