League Two Carlisle United have endured a difficult start to the season and following a fourth loss in five games to start the campaign, manager Paul Simpson departed on Saturday evening.
The Cumbrians will be keen to get back on track with an opening EFL Trophy victory when they take on Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest’s under-21 side.
Carlisle’s clash with Nottingham Forest U21 is being shown live on Sky Sports+, the broadcaster’s red button service, in the UK.
The match will kick-off at 19:00 on Tuesday 3rd September at Brunton Park in Carlisle, England.
A difficult start to the season continued for Carlisle on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Tranmere, a result that leaves them 20th in the League Two table having taken only three points from their first four league games.
Simpson left his role as manager following that defeat, which marked the Cumbrians’ seventh in their last eight games, a run in which they have netted just four goals.
In contrast, Nottingham Forest U21 have begun their Premier League 2 season with three wins, with all of those victories coming to nil.
The Reds won two of their three EFL Trophy matches last term, beating Carlisle 2-0 in that sequence, while the Cumbrians managed only one win in their trio of group-stage matches last season.

Mark Birch, Steven Rudd and Jamie Devitt have been placed in temporary charge of the Cumbrians and may ring the changes for this cup tie.
Luke Armstrong and Ben Barclay could offer something new while youngsters Jack Ellis and Dominic Sadi may be given a chance to impress.
The Reds are unlikely to make many changes having started the season with three wins to nil.
Ben Hammond and Kyle McAdam have made up a formidable centre-back partnership in front of goalkeeper Aaron Bott, while attacking midfielder Jimmy Sinclair has been the star man this term, netting three goals in two appearances for Forest.
