Burnley v Wolves: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Despite being four points from safety in the Premier League, Burnley have shown plenty of fighting spirit in recent weeks and they have what it takes to beat mid-table Wolves this week.

The Clarets still have work to do with just eight games remaining in the Premier League this season, but they have reignited their campaign with five points from three matches, and they could be awkward customers at Turf Moor.

Visitors Wolves, meanwhile, have little to play for as the season draws to a close but will be wanting to bounce back from their 2-0 loss away to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Burnley v Wolves betting tips and predictions

Burnley to win - 9/5

Vincent Kompany's Burnley have undoubtedly fallen short of expectations this season after easing to the Championship title last campaign, but they could yet secure survival in the Premier League.

Just 18 points from 30 games is a seriously poor return but they are only four points off Nottingham Forest in 17th and they have hit a decent patch of form at an important time.

Before the international break, the Clarets dug deep to draw 2-2 away to West Ham before a crucial home win against Brentford.

And on Saturday, they impressed again to take a point off Chelsea in a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

That was despite Burnley having Lorenz Assignon sent off after only 40 minutes in the capital, and there is a renewed sense of unity and fighting spirit in the team.

Wolves won the reverse of this fixture 1-0 in December, but Burnley are unbeaten in six home league games against Wolves dating back to 2010, and they can keep that run going with a big win.

Incentives could be hard to come by in the Wolves camp, and they are not the most consistent team, with Saturday's 2-0 loss to Aston Villa taking their league losses tally to 12 - the same as their number of league wins this term.

Crucially, Wolves are also missing some key players heading into this match with their Hwang Hee-Chan and Pedro Neto absent, and while Matheus Cunha is set to return after a recent injury lay-off, he may not be up to speed.

Wolves have already lost eight games on the road in the Premier League this term and given their limited options going forwards, they should be opposed again.

Under 2.5 goals - 1/1

Burnley's recent matches have not been short of goalmouth action, but their clash with Wolves on Tuesday night could be a low-scoring affair.

Wolves's last four league fixtures have produced a total of just nine goals - an average of only 2.25 goals per game - and the absences of Hee-Chan and Neto will not help matters.

Burnley allowed Chelsea 33 shots on Saturday but that was a more open affair with Burnley managing 18 shots themselves and they will aim to keep things much tighter at Turf Moor, where under 2.5 goals is another decent selection.

Nelson Semedo to be booked - 3/1

Wolves may not have much to play for in the remainder of the season, but Gary O'Neil's men will not want to be humiliated by relegation-threatened Burnley, and frustrations could boil over in this match.

The reverse fixture at Molineux in December produced six yellow cards and one player who could go into the book at Turf Moor is Nelson Semedo.

Deployed on the right of the midfield four, tracking back is a key part of Semedo's game, and he can often be drawn into cynical fouls.

No Wolves player has collected more yellow cards than Semedo (eight) in the Premier League this term and he looks overpriced at 3/1 to be cautioned.
