Burnley v Coventry City: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Burnley take on managerless Coventry in the Championship on Tuesday with the hosts looking to boost their promotion push while the visitors are aiming to build on their promising start under interim coach Rhys Carr.

The Clarets are unbeaten in seven home league matches this season, with four wins and three draws, and they have won their last two Championship matches with the only goal of the game.

Coventry have picked up a pair of 2-2 draws since Mark Robins was sacked but are 13 positions below fourth-placed Burnley in the standings with only four wins from their first 16 league games.

Burnley to win - 21/20

Burnley have made a promising start in their bid to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt after relegation last season and they are just two points behind pacesetters Leeds after winning their last two games.

Scott Parker's side started off with a flurry of goals, scoring nine times in their first two matches, but they have added only 10 more in their last 14 league games.

A rock-solid defence has meant that has been enough for the Clarets to win half of their 16 league games, with six draws and only two defeats.

Those losses both came by the only goal on tricky trips to Sunderland and Millwall and Saturday's 1-0 win at Bristol City should have raised their confidence levels as they bid to record three successive wins for the first time this season.

Coventry have enough quality in their squad to be higher in the table than they are, but they have won only three of their last 14 games. Even so, they have lost just one of their last five and showed plenty of spirit to hold a strong Sheffield United side to a 2-2 draw at the CBS Arena on Saturday.

Their task was made much easier when Norman Bassette goaded the Blades' Anel Ahmedhodzic into getting sent off just before half-time when they were trailing 2-1 and their persistence paid off 10 minutes from time when Bobby Thomas equalised.

Burnley have been one of the most consistent teams in the Championship so far this season and should make home advantage count.

Correct Score - 2-1 - 8/1

While Burnley games have been short of goals at both ends, Coventry tend to play in more open contests and both teams have scored in five of the Sky Blues' last six matches, with their last five all producing at least three goals.

No more than one goal has been scored - and only three in total - in Burnley's last five fixtures, but that pattern could change against a more open side such as Coventry and a 2-1 home win appeals as a correct-score selection.

Coventry have scored three more league goals than Burnley this season, but they have conceded almost four times as many and look prime candidates for the Clarets to score multiple goals against for the first time in seven games.

Josh Brownhill anytime goalscorer - 5/1

Midfielder Josh Brownhill will be keen to impress having been the subject of transfer speculation for the January window and it's no surprise that his performances have been attracting attention.

The former Bristol City star scored four goals in Burnley's tough Premier League campaign last season, including strikes against Tottenham and Arsenal, and he has five league goals already this term.

He might have added to that tally against his former club on Saturday as it was a rebound from his shot that was tucked away by Jaidon Anthony, but he knows how to get into goalscoring positions and is a big price to get on the scoresheet at Turf Moor for the fourth time this season.
