Burnley v Arsenal: Tips, predictions & odds

Struggling Burnley will be hoping they aren’t the next in the firing line as Arsenal head for Turf Moor on the back of that incredible 6-0 drubbing of West Ham.

After confirming themselves as genuine title contenders once again by beating Liverpool, the Gunners then rammed home their credentials to their rivals by blasting their way past the Hammers.

Seeing off Burnley shouldn't be an issue, then, for Mikel Arteta's side as they prepare to face opponents who have failed to win any of their last seven matches.

Burnley v Arsenal tips and predictions

Arsenal win/Both Teams Not to Score - 11/10

Arsenal will set foot on Turf Moor feeling on top of the world following last week’s 6-0 demolition of West Ham though they won’t be presuming another hammering is on the cards.

Burnley are fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the Premier League and while results might not be going their way, there is no lack of effort and intensity from Vincent Kompany’s team as the clock ticks down on their top-flight future.

Ultimately, however, this looks like a mismatch and one which Arsenal can win routinely if not with the fanfare of last Sunday.

Forget the 6-0 (a 50/1 chance) and settle for an Arsenal win and Both Teams Not to Score at 11/10, something Mikel Arteta’s title contenders have already achieved 13 times this season.

Confidence could not be higher at the Emirates with a fantastic bounce back after a fairly dismal Christmas and New Year, ending in FA Cup dismay against Liverpool.

They have since avenged that loss in the league, also seen off Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest and last week’s wonder show at the London Stadium was the cherry on the icing on the cake.

Four straight wins is one more than the Clarets have picked up all season and only one of those was at home, against Sheffield United, the one side below them in the table.

They have lost nine of their 12 home matches - no side in the division has lost more in front of their own fans - and if they haven’t run out of hope, they are running out of time.

Furthermore, their performances against the top clubs offer almost no hope of them taking anything out of this showdown.

In 13 fixtures played against sides in the current top half, that have managed a solitary point, courtesy of a 1-1 draw against Brighton.

Martin Odegaard to score Anytime - 7/4

Arsenal are the Premier League’s third top scorers and take the third most shots.

They boast six players who are averaging over 1.5 shots per game and have proved they can score goals from anywhere.

Their front four or five are electric but they have also scored far more goals - 16 - from set-pieces than any other side.

The odds are that two or three of their players will score at Burnley and betting that Martin Odegaard is one of them makes sense.

The Norwegian is 7/4 to score at any time and add to the seven goals he has scored for the club this season.

Odegaard is averaging 2.2 shots per game and with a bit more luck could have had far more goals to his name. He hasn’t found the net since early December but is a constant menace and he will be back on the scoresheet soon enough.

Over 10 corners - 5/4

The 2-way corners line for this fixture has been set at 9.5 but it may well be worth trying to nick a bigger price by betting on over 10.

The statistics speak for themselves. Arsenal average 7.5 corners per match, Burnley exactly five, so the numbers clearly add up.

Last week Burnley went to Liverpool and gave a good account of themselves in a 3-1 loss. Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for a side who put bodies behind the ball yet still chalked up nine shots and three corners.

Arsenal will dominate proceedings at Turf Moor but Burnley can play their part, especially when the Gunners are caught mob-handed in attack and the hosts look to the likes of David Fofana on the counter.
