There is plenty to dissect ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign and the Racing Post's Liam Flin believes Borussia Dortmund are the team to watch.
Last season's German top flight was incredible. Bayer Leverkusen sent shockwaves across the continent by claiming their maiden title, in the process snapping Bayern Munich's 11-year reign as German champions.
Not only that, but Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen went through the entire league season unbeaten and won the DFB Pokal, as well as reaching the Europa League final.
But the question going into the new season is, can they sustain that kind of form for a second successive campaign?
The bulk of the squad has been kept together but Bayern Munich will be determined to regain their title with Vincent Kompany in the dugout and a couple of smart signings made over the summer.
Dortmund, meanwhile, were Champions League finalists last season and enter a new era under Nuri Sahin, while RB Leipzig have a young and promising squad.
Borussia Dortmund to win Bundesliga without Bayern Munich - 3/1
Leverkusen barely put a foot wrong last season but what they achieved in the 2023/24 season is surely not sustainable.
They have done well to retain key players but the transfer window is not over yet and the loss of loanee Josip Stanisic, who has returned to Bayern, is also a blow.
How Kompany, who oversaw Burnley's relegation from the Premier League last term, performs at Bayern remains to be seen but they undoubtedly have the strongest squad in the Bundesliga, especially with the additions of Michael Olise and Joao Palhinha to an already stacked midfield.
They look about right at 1/2 to win the Bundesliga, so the better approach could be the betting without Bayern Munich, in which Dortmund are overpriced at 3/1.
Marco Reus and Mats Hummels are significant losses but this Dortmund squad is promising and can build on last term's run to the Champions League final.
They have great options through the centre of their attack with Serhou Guirassy, who netted 28 league goals for Stuttgart last term, joining up with Niclas Fullkrug and Sebastien Haller.
Another former Stuttgert man, Waldemar Anton, improves their defence, and last season's fifth-placed finish feels like an anomaly, especially as Stuttgart are unlikely to go as well with the burden of Champions League football.
Leipzig are strong but have their work cut out replacing Xavi Simons, who has returned to parent club PSG, and Dani Olmo may also depart the Red Bull Arena.
Bochum to be relegated - 5/2
At the other end of the table, Bochum are a juicy price to get relegated.
Die Unabsteigbaren finished in the relegation play-off position last season, only six points above relegated Koln, and they could be in for another testing term.
They leaked 74 goals in their 34 matches last term and also struggled going forward.
Kevin Stoger was their top scorer in the league with only seven goals but he has moved to Borussia Monchengladbach, adding to the feeling that they are prime candidates for the drop.
Jamal Musiala to score 15 or more goals - 6/4
Harry Kane is 4/9 favourite in the Bundesliga top goalscorer betting but punters should swerve that market and look at Jamal Musiala to score 15 or more goals at 6/4.
Musiala was one of the stars of the show at Euro 2024, netting three goals for Germany before they exited in the quarter-final stage and showing a glimpse of what he should offer Bayern this season.
There is fierce competition for places but Musiala should be one of the first names on the team sheet.
He was limited to just 24 league appearances in 2023/24 but he still managed to score 10 times in the top flight, meaning he averaged a goal every 177 minutes.
With more minutes this term, he should, at the very least, hit 15 goals.
