Brighton v Nottingham Forest: Predictions, Tips and Odds

After their European excursion to Rome ended in bitter disappointment in midweek, Brighton will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday.

A 4-0 defeat to Roma on Thursday means it is three straight defeats in all competitions for Roberto De Zerbi’s men. However, they have looked far stronger at the Amex stadium and last tasted defeat in the league here against West Ham back in August.

Forest meanwhile remain perilously close to the bottom three, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men lying in 17th and four points above the relegation zone. With four defeats from their last five in all competitions, the Tricky Trees are in need of a positive result to drag themselves further away from danger.

Brighton v Nottingham Forest Betting Tips and Predictions

Draw @ 3/1

Both sides head into Sunday’s meeting in need of overturning a current run of poor form but a point apiece may be the best outcome given their respective issues.

In each of Brighton’s recent defeats to Roma, Fulham and Wolves, the Seagulls have failed to find the back of the net, while the only occasion that they have scored more than once across their last six was when they thumped bottom of the table Sheffield United 5-0; the Blades have conceded 72 times in the league this season.

Multiple offensive injuries have hampered their creative output in recent weeks, with Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma out for the season with a back problem, as well as Solly March and Joao Pedro missing for multiple matches.

For Forest, they have had a difficult run in recent weeks, suffering close defeats to Newcastle, Manchester United and league leaders Liverpool across their last five.

All these defeats came at the City Ground and their away form has been far more of an issue, with just nine points taken from their 13 away days in the league.

They are without a win in any of their last four on the road - including being held to a draw by Championship outfit Bristol City in the FA Cup as well as defeat to fellow strugglers Brentford - and with Brighton losing just twice at the Amex in all competitions all season, it is difficult to see Forest taking all three points.

However, with the Seagulls being held to draws six times at home - including their last fixture here against Everton - there is a chance that Forest can take one point back with them to Nottingham.

Both Teams to Score @ 8/13

Only one of Brighton’s six league draws at the Amex have ended goalless so there could be some joy at both ends in this encounter.

Not only that, but the 0-0 draw with Wolves in January remains the only time that both sides have failed to find the back of the net at Brighton in the league, with winners in this market in each of the other 12 fixtures.

Six of Forest’s last seven away days in all competitions have also seen both sides find the net, so the statistics bode well for something to cheer about for both sides on Sunday.

Morgan Gibbs-White to be booked @ 3/1

While Lewis Dunk predictably tops the bookings table for Brighton this season, Forest’s most ill-disciplined player is surprisingly one of their major attacking threats.

Morgan Gibbs-White has picked up seven yellows in the league this season and is placed at tempting odds of 3/1.

With three yellows across his last four league games, he looks a good price to fall foul of the referee once again at the Amex.
