Brighton v Manchester United: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Brighton have a good recent record against Manchester United and have saved their better performances for teams in the top eight over the last few weeks.

United know they have to better Newcastle's result if they are to snatch seventh spot and guarantee European football next season, as well as avoiding their lowest-ever finish in the Premier League era.

Brighton v Manchester United betting tips and predictions

Brighton to win - 11/10

Brighton have little left to play for other than holding on to their current 10th place, but they can end their season on a positive note by beating out-of-sorts United on Sunday.

United claimed a 3-2 win over Newcastle at Old Trafford in midweek to keep their hopes of qualifying for Europe via the league alive going into the final round.

The Red Devils must better Newcastle's result to finish seventh, which would be good enough to secure a Europa Conference League spot irrespective of how they fare in the FA Cup final against Man City.

If United do manage to secure seventh they will avoid posting their lowest-ever finish in the Premier League era, but they have found Brighton difficult opponents in recent seasons.

Albion have won each of the last four Premier League meetings between these two sides, including a convincing 3-1 win in Manchester earlier this season.

United did manage to dump Brighton out of the FA Cup last term however, although they needed extra time and penalties at Wembley to get the job done, and they have been poor on their travels for some time now.

Erik ten Hag's side are winless in their last six games away from Old Trafford, including a 3-3 draw with Championship outfit Coventry at Wembley in the cup, and they went down 4-0 at Crystal Palace in their last away assignment.

Brighton's season has tailed off since their European exit as they have just one win in nine games since.

That said, they have beaten top four side Aston Villa, drawn with Newcastle and lost a close game against in-form Chelsea over the course of their last three games - and a similar level of performance may be enough to overcome United in the last batch of games.

Joao Pedro to score anytime - 7/5

Brighton's Joao Pedro had been enjoying an excellent season until he was sidelined for around two months during February and March.

The 22-year-old Brazilian failed to score in his first five games after making a return but ended that run with the only goal of the game against Villa as he managed to get to the rebound after missing a spot kick.

Pedro provided an assist in the defeat to Chelsea and looks to be rediscovering his form after a difficult period.

The Brighton forward scored his side's third in the win at Old Trafford earlier this term and he can make it ten Premier League goals for the campaign with an effort on Sunday.

Casemiro to be booked - 9/4

There is a chance Sunday's game could be Casemiro's final appearance for United.

Although he still has two years left on his deal, his recent performances don't suggest there will be any kind of grandstand finish from the former Real Madrid man.

Casemiro's form has never really recovered after mid-season ankle and hamstring injuries and he has struggled out-of-position in the recent games against Crystal Palace, a 4-0 defeat, and Newcastle.

The 32-year-old has accumulated six yellow cards in 24 Premier League appearances this season and has also picked up bookings in Europe and the cup competitions.

Casemiro has committed fouls in seven of his last nine appearances and may struggle with the pace of the Brighton frontline here, so he looks a good contender to be booked in what may be his last outing for the Old Trafford outfit.
