Brighton continued their impressive start to the season last time out by holding Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium and up next is a home clash against Ipswich Town.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side have taken seven points from their opening three matches, including victories away to Everton (3-0) and at home to Manchester United (2-1).
Ipswich are adjusting to the step up from the Championship and can be reasonably pleased despite taking only one point.
They competed well in losses at home to Liverpool (0-2) and away to Manchester City (1-4) and finally got some reward with a 1-1 draw at home to Fulham.
Ipswich to score the first goal - 11/4
Ipswich have started strongly in each of their three matches and they look overpriced 11/4 shots to break the deadlock against Brighton at the Amex.
After winning back-to-back promotions, Ipswich were always likely to notice a massive step up in class, but they continue to go positively about their work and have been especially effective in the early stages of games.
The Tractor Boys created the better chances in the first half of their loss to Liverpool and they took the lead at Manchester City before succumbing to the extra class of Pep Guardiola’s side.
Kieran McKenna’s side continued their bold approach against Fulham and got their noses in front with a 15th-minute strike from Liam Delap.
The next challenge for Ipswich is to build on their strong starts to games and get some wins on the board.
But their fearless approach is the right way to go about things and it could help them make early inroads against Brighton, who will be expected to dominate the game.
Brighton are delighted to be on seven points having already played at home to Manchester United and away to Arsenal.
But it is still early days to assume that they will improve massively on last season’s 11th place.
They played against 10 men for long periods of matches away to Everton and Arsenal and their victory at home to Manchester United was achieved with the help of an extremely tight offside call.
Brighton’s high defensive line is something which Ipswich will be aware of and it might not take the away side very long to get their noses in front.
Sammie Szmodics anytime goalscorer - 5/1
Ipswich have been bold in the transfer market and one of their new signings, Sammie Szmodics, could make an impact this weekend.
Szmodics has played lower league football for much of his career and is finally getting the chance to show his quality at the top level.
The 28-year-old scored on his Ipswich debut in the 4-1 loss at Manchester City and is becoming established as a regular starter for Ireland, having made his international debut earlier this year.
He has intelligent movement and an eye for goal and looks an overpriced 5/1 shot to score against the Seagulls.
Sam Morsy to be booked - 11/8
Ipswich have played some lovely football over the last couple of seasons but they are also ultra competitive and have relied a lot on midfield enforcer Sam Morsy to do the dirty work of winning back possession or committing tactical fouls.
Morsy has collected 26 yellow cards over the course of his last two EFL campaigns.
He has already been cautioned twice this term and looks a solid 11/8 wager for another booking.
