Brighton v Bournemouth: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Brighton struggled for consistency earlier on in the Premier League season, but they are now up to ninth and also have an FA Cup fifth round trip to Newcastle United to look forward to on Sunday.

They are three points below sixth-placed Bournemouth, who missed a big opportunity at the weekend when losing 1-0 at home to relegation-threatened Wolves.

The Cherries hope to gain revenge over Wolves this Saturday when hosting the Midlands side in the FA Cup, but their immediate focus is on trying to defeat Albion and boosting their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification.

Brighton v Bournemouth betting tips and predictions

Brighton to win - 21/20

Brighton improved their winning sequence to three - their joint-best of the season - with a dominant 4-0 victory away to Southampton on Saturday and they can overcome a much stronger south coast rival by defeating Bournemouth at the Amex.

It is getting tight in the top half of the table, with eight points covering third-placed Nottingham Forest to tenth-placed Fulham.

Several of the teams chasing European qualification are struggling for consistency, but Brighton are on the rise after a superb 3-0 success at home to Chelsea and the 4-0 win at Saints.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side were totally dominant against Saints - winning the shot count 18 to six - and should have plenty left in the tank as they approach one of their most important weeks of the season.

The Seagulls head to Newcastle on Sunday for an intriguing FA Cup tie, but their immediate focus is on attempting to defeat a Cherries side who are direct rivals for European qualification.

Bournemouth are having a fantastic season, but suffered a major setback at the weekend when losing 1-0 at home to Wolves.

Beating Wolves would have taken them up to fourth, but the task became extremely difficult after centre-back Illya Zabarnyi was red-carded in the 31st minute.

The Cherries put in a big effort after going down to ten men, but were unable to take any points and it will be a tough challenge for them to fully recover in time for another high stakes, high energy fixture.

A series of vibrant performances have been key to Bournemouth’s success this season, but there is every chance of a drop in intensity levels against the Seagulls and that could contribute to a second loss in four days.

Kaoru Mitoma to score any time - 3/1

Albion have some fantastic attacking players, but the pick of the bunch in recent weeks has been Japan international Kaoru Mitoma, who has scored in each of the last three matches, including a goal-of-the-season contender in the 3-0 victory over Chelsea.

Mitoma was heavily linked with a January move away from the south coast, but Albion stood firm and are reaping the rewards.

The 27-year-old is Brighton’s top league scorer with seven goals, and his top-flight xG (7.51) is the highest of any Seagulls’ player.

He looks like being one of the main threats to Bournemouth and merits an anytime scorer wager at 3/1.

Tyler Adams to be carded - 6/4

Zabarnyi’s suspension necessitates a Bournemouth re-shuffle, with James Hill expected to switch to centre-back and Lewis Cook likely to deputise at right back.

Tyler Adams should come into the midfield and will be eager to impress after an injury-interrupted campaign.

However, the feisty American has already collected three bookings in 2025 and his caution count is set to increase.
