Brentford v Leicester City: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Leicester City head to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday with the Foxes looking to move on quickly after a difficult week at the newly-promoted club.

A 2-1 defeat to Chelsea was the final straw for Steve Cooper at City, with the Welshman sacked on Monday having won just two of his opening 12 league matches with the Foxes.

Already an unpopular appointment due to his ties with Nottingham Forest, Cooper struggled to win over fans and players - the latter were seen partying and wishing for their former boss, Enzo Maresca, to return on the day of the Chelsea defeat - due to a negative tactical approach and lack of innovation.

A new boss may be in place before their trip to Brentford, but it could be the same, familiar losing feeling for the Foxes on Saturday as they take on a Bees side who have excelled at their Gtech Community Stadium this term.

Brentford to win and over 2.5 goals - 13/10

Back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and Southampton must feel like an age ago for Leicester, who have since been beaten 3-1 at home by Nottingham Forest, thrashed twice by Manchester United, held to a draw by Ipswich Town and then defeated by Chelsea.

Even if a new boss is announced before their trip to London, the Foxes are unlikely to have enough time to make a meaningful difference, suggesting their poor form should continue at the Gtech.

Brentford have been near-perfect on their own patch this season, winning five of their six Premier League home games, with a 1-1 draw with West Ham - who beat Newcastle 2-0 at St James’ Park on Monday - the only dent in an exceptional record.

A 3-2 win over Bournemouth in their last home outing was an impressive result and the grit and desire they showed to earn a point at Everton last Saturday despite an early red card for Christian Norgaard highlights just how good they have been this season.

That draw at Goodison Park finished 0-0, a scoreline you are unlikely to see at the Gtech this weekend, as Brentford’s six home league matches have produced a huge 29 goals and it would be no surprise to see the nets bulge with frequency again.

All but one of Leicester’s six Premier League away games have gone over 2.5 goals and it could pay to back the hosts to extend their unbeaten record at home with a win in a thriller.

Yoane Wissa anytime goalscorer - 2/1

Brentford’s home form has been one of the stories of the season and they have their potent front two to thank for their success in west London.

Bryan Mbeumo has grabbed plenty of headlines thanks to his eight goals this term and, with seven of those strikes coming at the Gtech, it is easy to see why he is the second-shortest-priced player in the anytime scorer market.

However, the Cameroonian's exploits have often led to his team-mate Yoane Wissa being overlooked, despite having just one less goal to his name and having three fewer league games than Mbeumo.

At the prices, that makes Wissa the far more appealing anytime scorer bet, as he excels at the Gtech too.

Six of his seven goals have come at home and he is fancied to keep up that sensational record against a Leicester defence which has conceded 14 times in six Premier League away games.

Ethan Pinnock over 0.5 shots on target - 4/1

While the form of Brentford’s attackers has helped them make a strong start to the campaign, their prowess from set-pieces has also been a huge reason for their early-season form.

Only Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have scored more than their four from such situations in the Premier League.

With the Bees set to dominate, they should rack up plenty of corners and backing one of their centre-backs to have a shot on target could pay dividends at a big price.

Only Mbeumo and Wissa have managed more shots on target than Ethan Pinnock for Brentford this term and the centre-back could add to his tally of six against the Foxes.

He has managed nine shots in total, so those looking for a safer bet or something to add to a bet builder may consider that as an option at 10/11.

But the fact that he has directed six of those nine efforts goalwards suggests it may be worth the gamble to back him to hit the target at a huge 4/1
