Brentford v Crystal Palace Prediction: Thiago 21/20 to add to impressive tally

Brentford are still in the hunt for a European place next season with just two matches left in the Premier League season and they can boost their chances with a home win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees are eighth in the table with two matches remaining and entered the weekend four points behind sixth-placed Bournemouth.

Visitors Palace have slipped to 15th place in the Premier League standings, but they are only seven points worse off than the Bees in a tightly-packed mid-table battle.

Brentford v Crystal Palace

Brentford v Crystal Palace Prediction

Best Bet: Brentford to win @ 4/6

With Palace safe from relegation and their thoughts turning to their UEFA Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano at the end of the month, it's no surprise to see Brentford as strong favourites for their clash at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.

Palace were comfortably dispatched by title-chasing Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, extending their winless run in the league to five games.

And that midweek match also puts them at a rest disadvantage to the Bees, who have had eight days to prepare for this contest since their own defeat at City.

Brentford won their last home fixture comfortably by 3-0 against a West Ham side who were giving their all in a bid to stave off relegation, though, and while Keith Andrews will have been frustrated by his side's recent spate of draws, they have been strong at home this term, with only three defeats in 18 league games.

Palace won the teams' first meeting this season 2-0 in November but the Bees recorded a league double over the Eagles last season and Palace haven't beaten the Bees in seven visits since their last win in 1957.

Alternative Bet: Igor Thiago anytime goalscorer @ 21/20

Igor Thiago has been a revelation for the Bees this season and while he looks set to finish second to Erling Haaland in the Premier League topscorer list as he trails the City striker by four with two games left, scoring 22 times in a top-flight season is some achievement.

The Brazilian got off to a sensational start this season with 12 goals in his first 14 appearances in all competitions and he is finishing the campaign strongly too with four goals in his last six outings for club and country, including the second goal from the penalty spot in the recent home win over West Ham.

Palace have conceded three goals in three consecutive league away games and that should be music to the ears of Brentford's top scorer.

Brentford v Crystal Palace Bet Builder Tip

  • Over 2 goals

  • Dango Ouattara 1+ shots on target

  • Mathias Jensen 1+ shots

  • Both teams to receive 2+ cards

    Pays 13/2

Start a four-leg bet builder for Sunday's London derby by taking over two goals in the match.

Brentford's last three matches have all generated at least three goals, while Palace have gone over 2.5 goals in 10 of their last 11 games.

Thiago is not the home side's only threat by any means and Dango Ouattara should fancy his chances of getting a shot on target.

The midfielder has not added to his seasonal tally of seven goals for a while but has had a goalbound effort in three of his last five matches, with five in all in that time.

Mathias Jenson, who scored Brentford's recent goal against Manchester United, has had four attempts over the last three games and can have at least one shot on Sunday.

It's also worth adding both teams to receive at least two cards as referee Sam Barrott is a strict official and has issued at least four cards in his last four matches including 12 in his last two appearances
