Brentford v Brighton: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Brentford have not won in seven Premier League matches, but they were unfortunate not to see off Manchester United on Saturday and that should have boosted their confidence for Brighton’s visit on Wednesday.

The Seagulls have been struggling on the road, but they performed well in defeat at title-chasing Liverpool on Sunday, so they will also be hopeful they can gain three valuable points in their quest to claim a European spot.

Brentford v Brighton betting tips and predictions

Brentford to win & over 2.5 goals - 9/4

Brentford will still be wondering how they didn’t beat United on Saturday let alone need a last-gasp goal from Kristoffer Ajer to earn a point, but that performance should boost their confidence for Brighton’s visit.

The Bees dominated against the Red Devils, but they have still not posted a win in their last seven Premier League matches and they cannot consider themselves safe with five points separating them from the drop zone.

They have conceded 55 goals this season as they have struggled to live up to the last campaign where they went close to qualifying for Europe, but this looks a good chance for them to gain a bit more daylight.

Thomas Frank’s side have kept one clean sheet in their last 22 matches, but they created enough chances against United to have won with ease and they can see off the Seagulls if they find their shooting boots.

Brighton performed commendably in their 2-1 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday, but they have lost six of their last seven away matches, with the exception being a 5-0 thumping of bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United.

They won their opening two road games of the campaign at Wolves and Manchester United, but have taken a full return in just two since.

With 12 of Brentford’s 15 home matches and 11 of Brighton’s 15 away fixtures featuring at least three goals, backing the home side to win with over 2.5 goals in the game at 9/4 looks the way to go.

Yoane Wissa to score at any time - 21/10

It will be a bit of a concern for Frank that just five of Brentford’s 31 goal efforts against United were on target, but at least his team are creating chances, so look out for striker Yoane Wissa making his mark in Wednesday’s game.

The DR Congo forward is 21/10 to score at any time and that looks a price that is worth taking as he has had 14 efforts on goal in his last five appearances for the Bees.

Wissa’s confidence should be high after recent goals against West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal, which took his tally to seven for the season, and he should be assured that chances will come his way if Brentford play with the same intensity as they did against United.

He had four goal attempts against United and if the home side’s performance at the weekend has given them a boost, then Wissa could be presented with plenty of opportunities to boost his tally.

Under 9.5 corners - 10/11

While there should be plenty of goalmouth action at the Gtech Community Stadium, that may not necessarily mean that Wednesday’s match will be littered with corners.

Only Arsenal, Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs have generated more flag-kicks than Brighton’s average of 7.43 per game at the Amex, but it has been a completely different story on the road for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

They have the fifth-lowest tally on their travels with just 3.67 per game, so they may not create much from wide areas on their visit to west London.

Brentford’s figure for home games of 5.13 per game was the joint-fifth lowest in the top flight before the midweek fixtures, so it could pay to go under the 9.5 total line at 10/11.
