Bradford v Wycombe: Tips, Predictions and Odds

The second semi-final in this season's EFL Trophy will take place on Wednesday and League Two Bradford can upset the odds when they welcome third-tier Wycombe to West Yorkshire.

It has been an underwhelming season to date for the Bantams, who have spent much of the campaign marooned in the bottom half of League Two, but there have been signs of late that their fortunes have started to turn.

Graham Alexander has seen his side win three matches on the spin to move into the play-off reckoning in the league, while Bradford have also caught the eye in the EFL Trophy, as they bid to reach the final of the competition for the first time.

Wycombe are also just one win away from a first EFL Trophy final and Matt Bloomfield's team, who still have work to do to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle in League One, will be hoping for some cup cheer.

These two sides have already met in cup competition this season at the University of Bradford Stadium, with Wycombe prevailing 2-1 in the first round of the FA Cup, but could a different outcome be on the cards on Wednesday?

Bradford v Wycombe tips and predictions

Bradford to win @ 17/10

It has been a turbulent season for Bradford, who parted ways with manager Mark Hughes in October, replacing him with former Scotland international Graham Alexander.

There was a mixed bag of results for Alexander during his first few months in charge, but he now appears to be getting a consistent tune out of his side following a five-match unbeaten run in all competitions that includes four wins and not a single goal conceded.

That run was kickstarted by a 1-0 success over Doncaster in the quarter-finals of this competition and Bradford have made it through to the final four the hard way, taking the scalps of Barnsley and Derby along the way.

The Bantams are 17/10 to claim another League One victim on Wednesday and they will fancy their chances against a Wycombe side that have lost to Bolton and drawn 0-0 with Oxford in their last two games.

League One safety is far from a certainty for the Chairboys, who sit just six points above the relegation zone and they have only won four of 16 road games in the league this season.

Wycombe did triumph at Bradford in the FA Cup and they are the marginal favourites at 29/20 to win this one, but the value and momentum appears to be with the hosts, who could be the team heading to Wembley come the final whistle.

Both teams to score - No @ 1/1

Bradford's recent resurgence has been built on a strong defensive record, as they have kept five clean sheets on the bounce and have not conceded since Dawson Devoy struck for Swindon against them on 27th January.

It is also seven clean sheets in 10 for the Bantams on home soil and they will be facing a Wycombe side that drew a blank in their most recent match against Oxford.

Prior to that 0-0, Wycombe had been amongst the goals, scoring 15 in their previous five, but the majority of those strikes came in home fixtures.

Away from Adams Park, the Chairboys have found scoring a bit more difficult, as they have only found the back of the net more than once in one of their last eight road games, failing to score at all in four of those contests.

That suggests that goals may be an issue for Wycombe when they make the trip north and, given semi-finals are usually tight anyway, backing No in the both teams to score market, available at 1/1, could prove the right play.

Calum Kavanagh to score anytime - 9/4

Bradford are unbeaten since the arrival of forward Calum Kavanagh on the final day of the winter transfer window and it is fair to say the former Middlesbrough man has had an immediate impact at his new club.

Kavanagh, who joined the Bantams on a permanent deal after previous loan spells in League Two at Harrogate and Newport, has netted twice in four appearances for Alexander's team.

Those goals have come in consecutive matches against MK Dons and Sutton - both of which ended in home wins for Bradford - and he is 9/4 to net for a third-successive game on Wednesday.

While Wycombe's defence may be focused on stopping Bradford's leading scorer Andy Cook, they must also be wary of Kavanagh, who could end up being the host's hero on the night.
