European giants Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid have shared a number of players in their history, with varying levels of success.
We take a look at some of the more notable players to have represented both clubs over the years...
Jude Bellingham has been a revelation since making the move to the Spanish capital this summer, with the 20-year-old midfielder netting 23 goals in all competitions, including four in this season’s Champions League.
Bellingham has adapted extremely well to his more attacking role at Madrid after spending three years at Borussia Dortmund as a box-to-box midfielder - a position that he also excelled at.
Turkish international Nuri Sahin enjoyed many happy moments at the Signal Iduna Park over the course of three separate spells at the club - where he is now the assistant manager behind Edin Terzic.
Sahin made 135 appearances for the Prussians between 2005 and 2011 before moving to Madrid where he struggled to settle under Jose Mourinho, making just four appearances.
A season-long loan at Liverpool was cut short in January to allow the midfielder to return to Dortmund, before he permanently rejoined the side in 2014 where he made a further 39 appearances.
He subsequently retired in 2021 at the age of 32 following spells at Werder Bremen and Antalyaspor.
PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi is widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in world football - blessed with great speed and attacking capabilities - and the Moroccan started his career at Real Madrid back in 2016.
Hakimi only made nine La Liga appearances for the first team, scoring twice, before his two-year loan move to Dortmund and the 25-year old was a regular starter for the Prussians, making 73 appearances in all competitions and lifting the DFL-Supercup in 2019.
A permanent move to Inter Milan in 2020 saw the Moroccan start nearly every game in Serie A and his performances attracted the attention of French powerhouses PSG in 2021, where he has enjoyed plenty of success in winning three consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
Despite not being able to regularly hold down a starting spot, defensive midfielder Flavio Conceicao enjoyed a fruitful four year spell at Real Madrid after signing from Deportivo La Coruna in 2000, winning two La Liga titles and lifting the 2001 Champions League amongst other accolades.
A season-long loan spell at Borussia Dortmund in 2003 proved to be less successful as the Brazilian made just 14 Bundesliga appearances for the Prussians.
Flavio made the permanent move away from the Bernabeu in 2004 to join Galatasaray before retiring in 2006 at Greek side Panathinaikos.
The 22-year-old Brazilian Reinier Jesus is still contracted to Real Madrid but he is yet to make his competitive debut for the club since signing from Flamengo in 2020 - although he has netted twice in three appearances for their B team.
Reinier was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund between 2020 and 2022 but the attacking midfielder failed to deliver on a regular basis, scoring one and assisting another over the course of 27 league games for the Bundesliga side - although he did lift the DFB Pokal in 2021.
Following a loan spell at Girona, he was then sent away from the Bernabeu again for the 2023/24 campaign - where he registered four league goal contributions in 18 games for Frosinone as they suffered relegation from Serie A on the final day of the season.
