Bolton v Oxford: Predictions, Tips and Odds

After drawing their last two games, Bolton will be eager to reignite their League One automatic promotion push by taking all three points at home to play-off chasing Oxford.

Consecutive draws in their last two games against Barnsley and mid-table Exeter have seen the Trotters fall out of the automatic promotion spots, but Ian Evatt’s men should be able to get back to winning ways against a U’s side without a win in their last four away fixtures.

A victory is unlikely to come easily for Bolton, however, with the reverse fixture finishing all-square at the Kassam Stadium back in November, while five of the last six meetings between these two sides have seen the final result decided by no more than one goal.

Bolton v Oxford Betting Tips and Predictions

Bolton to win @ 8/11

A difficult end of February and beginning of March has seen the Trotters win just one of their last five league matches and they need to get back to regularity to keep up with second placed Derby’s ever-growing momentum.

Bolton have the second best home record in League One this season, claiming 39 points here so far and have lost just one league game at the Toughsheet Community Stadium across their last 11 appearances.

Eight of these results have ended with all three points staying with Evatt’s men and a repeat ending could be on the cards on Tuesday night - particularly given Oxford’s recent troubles on the road.

The U’s have registered two draws and two defeats across their last four away trips in League One, dropping points against fellow play-off hopefuls Blackpool as well as mid-table opposition (Wycombe and Bristol Rovers).

Oxford have also historically struggled in visits with Bolton, winning just two of their last 14 meetings stretching back to 1993, so a punt on a Bolton victory looks the best option.

Under 2.5 goals @ 19/20

With frequent tight affairs between these two sides across recent meetings, there may be little to separate them on Tuesday night, which could also see goals hard to come by at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The Trotters have failed to score more than twice in any game across their last six matches, while the U’s have scored no more than one goal in five of their last six away games in all competitions, drawing blanks in two.

The last two meetings have also seen a combined total of one converted strike and, with both sides firmly in the play-off picture, neither will be willing to allow too many chances to fall the oppositions way in fear of losing ground on nearby rivals.

Aaron Collins to score anytime @ 7/5

With top scorer Dion Charles yet to return from injury - as well as Victor Adeboyejo also expected to miss out after he was forced off after just five minutes last weekend - the reliance on goals will have to fall elsewhere for Bolton.

One potential option is striker Aaron Collins, who has been utilised as the unselfish provider for the majority of the season, with 10 of his 14 goal contributions in the league coming via assists.

The Welshman grabbed a goal and assist across his last three appearances and looks a good option to be involved in a converted strike on Tuesday, especially given that he might be the only definite name on the team sheet from a forward’s perspective.
