Jude Bellingham plotting Real Madrid 'Remontada' against Arsenal

A 'Remontada' is at the forefront of the minds of the Real Madrid squad ahead of Los Blancos' UEFA Champions League quarter-final second-leg against Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabeu according to Jude Bellingham.

Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid trail Arsenal 3-0 following a sensational victory for the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium last week in which England international midfielder Declan Rice scored two phenomenal free kicks.

Rice's England teammate Bellingham has affirmed his confidence that 15-time UEFA Champions League winners Real can turn around the quarter-final tie and take their place in the semi-finals.

"The most used word in the dressing room in the last days is Remontada," Bellingham said at UEFA's official pre-match press conference.

A Spanish word in origin, 'Remontada' translates into English as 'comeback'.

Only four teams have come back from a three-goal deficit from the first-leg of a knockout tie in UEFA Champions League history - Barcelona against Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, Roma against Barcelona in 2018, Liverpool against Barcelona in 2019 and Deportivo La Coruna against Milan back in 2004.

For Bellingham, if any team is capable of fighting back from such a daunting deficit it is Real Madrid.

"By the time that we were back on the bus in London, we were all believing that we could come back in the tie.

"We are going in with the mentality that a comeback is possible. We have confidence because of the club's history."

The winners of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final between Real Madrid and Arsenal will face the victors of Aston Villa v Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
