Bayern Munich v Real Madrid: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Bayern Munich face Real Madrid in Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg and Racing Post's James Milton has picked out his three best bets for a fascinating clash at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern made the most of home advantage to see off Arsenal 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals, winning the second leg 1-0 in Germany.

And 14-time European champions Real also enjoyed last-eight success against English opponents, beating holders Manchester City on penalties after a gripping tie ended 4-4 on aggregate.

Bayern Munich v Real Madrid betting tips and predictions

Draw - 13/5

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were both involved in tense quarter-finals ties against Premier League title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City and they could be hard to split in Tuesday's first leg.

Bayern have a formidable record at the Allianz Arena, losing only one of their last 24 Champions League home matches.

However, they have failed to win the Bundesliga for the first time since 2011/12, trailing champions Bayer Leverkusen by 12 points with three games remaining, and manager Thomas Tuchel is awaiting fitness updates on a number of key players.

Real look in better shape than their hosts in terms of form, fitness and morale. They showed their character and class in the quarter-final tie against trophy favourites Manchester City, who had thumped them 5-1 on aggregate in last season's semi-finals.

The penalty-shootout victory at the Etihad Stadium was a cathartic moment for Carlo Ancelotti and his players as they followed up a thrilling 3-3 first-leg draw with a 1-1 draw in Manchester.

Another draw looks a big price in Munich, where Real should welcome back attacking aces Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo after illness.

Right-back Dani Carvajal is suspended but Lucas Vazquez, who excelled in the recent 3-2 league win over El Clasico rivals Barcelona, is a terrific understudy.

Ancelotti's men are closing in on yet another Spanish title and they are capable of avoiding defeat at Bayern's fortress on Tuesday.

Rodrygo first goalscorer - 15/2

Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has been named in the travelling party after sitting out Friday's 1-0 win at Real Sociedad and he poses a major threat to the Bayern defence.

The brilliant Brazil international played his part in a breathless start to the first leg against Manchester City, scoring in the 14th minute to put his side 2-1 up at the Bernabeu.

And Rodrygo also burst out of the blocks at the Etihad, where he tucked away a cross from Vinicius Junior at the second attempt to give Real a 12th-minute lead.

He scored three times in this season's Champions League group stage, including strikes in the 16th minute against Braga and the 11th minute against Napoli, so he looks a lively candidate in the first-goalscorer betting.

Eduardo Camavinga to be booked - 11/4

Only Arsenal's Kai Havertz and Real Sociedad's Igor Zubeldia have committed more fouls in the 2023/24 Champions League than Real Madrid youngster Eduardo Camavinga.

The France international has been penalised by referees 17 times in 654 minutes of playing time in Europe, picking up yellow cards in the group-stage fixtures away to Braga and Napoli.

Camavinga is a versatile member of Ancelotti's squad. Most comfortable as a tough-tackling defensive midfielder, he could also slot in at left-back if Ferland Mendy is not fit enough to start against Bayern.

Whatever role he plays, Camavinga is likely to find himself in the thick of the battle and he is a tempting bet to be booked in the first leg.

The 21-year-old has picked up four yellow cards in his last five starts in La Liga, including one in the feisty 3-2 win over Barcelona, and he may well add to his tally of Champions League bookings this week.
