Bayern Munich Champions League odds: German side cut to 6/1 to be Kings of Europe

Bayern Munich overturned a 1-0 deficit to see off Lazio in the Champions League round of 16 and they are now seen as one of the favourites to lift the trophy at Wembley on the first day of June.

Once again Harry Kane was the hero for the German giants, with the England skipper grabbing two of the goals in a 3-0 victory which left Bayern as 6/1 shots to win the competition for a seventh time.

Kane has netted 33 goals in 33 appearances for Bayern since his summer move from Tottenham and will now have his sights on lifting the biggest prize in European football.

Tuchel eyes second European title

There has been mounting speculation surrounding Thomas Tuchel’s future, with the former Chelsea boss announcing recently that he will leave Bayern at the end of the season.

After another slip-up in the Bundesliga last weekend, talk that Tuchel’s departure may be earlier than the summer grew, with Bayern a massive 10 points adrift of league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

A 1-0 defeat in Rome in the first leg didn’t help his cause, but this latest victory and performance at the Allianz Arena will have put that talk to bed for the moment.

The 50-year-old does have previous experience of winning the Champions League - which Bayern can now be backed at 6/1 to win - during his time in charge of Chelsea.

Tuchel led the Premier League club to success in 2020-21, with victory over Manchester City in the final, and will hope to leave Munich on a high note.

Kane out to break trophy drought

Despite an outstanding season on a personal note, Kane is facing the prospect of still being without a winners’ medal at the end of the season.

The Bundesliga title is looking more and more unlikely and with Bayern - 8/1 to win the league - out of the DFB-Pokal, the Champions League looks like the last chance for the Bavarian giants to collect silverware this season.

Kane is currently the joint leading scorer in this season’s competition with six, alongside Kylian Mbappe, and the Bayern striker is 5/2 to top the goal charts come the completion of the competition.

The former Spurs man showed his ability again in the second-leg victory over Lazio, scoring a goal in each half to help see off the Serie A outfit.

Kane, who has 27 league goals this term, may feel it’s meant to be for him, as this season’s Champions League final takes place at Wembley.

Muller still a key player

One thing that was also evident in Tuesday’s win for Bayern was that Thomas Muller can still make a big impact at the highest level.

The veteran scored the second on the night, while his overall performance highlighted that he could still be important to the club’s chances of lifting the European Cup for a seventh time.

This could be Muller’s last chance of winning Europe’s top prize, which he has lifted on two previous occasions.

The 34-year-old has won no fewer than 32 trophies with Bayern and his performance on Tuesday suggests he thinks he can add a 33rd success in 2023-24.
